(A horse trots in, clears its throat, covers its ears when the microphone's feedback kicks in, moves a distance away from the microphone, and speaks.)

My own 2 cents (adjust for inflation, etc.) on the storylines:
the two alternatives you suggest towards the end of your post have, I think, a lot of potential. Not sure I have a definite preference between the two (vacation vs. friction.)
(The horse trots out, tries to jump the fence and hits it instead. Needs practice.)

Thanks for the feedback. I am not sure myself as to whether sew those two storyline ideas into one, or flesh them both out to full-fledged storylines... Just be at me to draw more of Jaqueleen (the flying squirrel), she's a great character (sometimes) and it's sad that just 'cause of her annoying stripes she never gets to be around...

Very nice today (Tuesday...)
And now that I have belatedly looked at the - very well-done - updated cast page, I know who you're referring to - and so I will... (unfortunately after looking through archives only once my memory of characters is not what it could be.)

quote:

As for the other storylines, that I know I'll draw, what order do you think I should put them in? I'm leaning towards crayon week last week before easter (which makes four or five less strips that I have to extend Art of Keeping Kit Oblivous...) and then put in the big clash, Finders Keepers, Paladiators and Fenni's Quest, in that order, followed by a more text-driven storyline that I've had planned for a while (but forgot as I wrote the last message) called Hearthside Stories. Basically, it's short stories in comic format, finishing the story of the week with normal text accompaning the Sunday strip.

The "right" answer, I suspect, probably depends on your longer-term goals - (and here I am being tremendously unhelpful again ...) - are you building a big story out of many shorter stories that will eventually build on each other, or writing individual but less connected arcs with interesting characters? (Each approach has strong merits- I don't mean to contrast one to the detriment of the other. (Erp, that was ungrammatical...)) (Did what I just wrote even make any sense? I keep noticing why I didn't go into teaching... *sigh*)
I would also say that I like the idea as you have it, partially because it seems to alternate more and less serious storylines.

quote:

And good luck with the riding, Eric! Says I, who was too lazy to ride my own horse today... It's a hard world...

Thanks! Wonderful place I go to, called Patchwork (yes, I did notice on the Cast page ,) a few miles from where I live, a therapeutic riding center where I go about once a month (during somewhat nicer months than this, anyhow. I don't like this area's weather but its winters...) for about an hour (not much, granted... but a lot of fun...)
