After all, this is Yiffburg we're talking about! I foresee the saving of a species

Though there could be problems in inbreeding/incest and such if we hope to avoid crossbreeding in order to preserve said species ._.

Hey! There's our silent vixen friend again. Again, she is work her magic through the will of Kit and Kay to bring two folks together.

So, two members of a nearly extinct species find each other! Wait...if there are more members of extinct species there...uh-oh, if the conservationists hear about this, I could find myself waking up in a shipping crate, heading for Yiffberg! That could be really embaressing....

Fleecer's expression is great! And it's amusing to watch Miss (Mrs? Ms?) Vixen-without-a-name there, at work... Nice to see the Doc and Helga present, too; nice to see a bit more of them outside of the lab.

only question is.. What *is* their species...?

That's what I was going to ask, I can't figure out what species they are for the life of me.

Well, it's shortly going to come out in the story, but the species that both
Fleecer and the female he's about to meet belongs to is an anthropomorpic
version of a category of salamaders that range from having poor vision
to being blind. They really are quite rare in real life, and some of the
species are called: Georgia Blind Salamander, Texas Blind Salamader, Olm,
and several others. Fleecer, to be exact, is a Proteus (a variation of
the Latin name for one such apmhibian species, Proteus anguinus) And
though not exactly blind, Fleecer's vision is not very good. (There's a
reason his eyes look so blank.) But there's more to come in the story.

Good gosh! I don't think that conservationists have a right to abduct any rare species member they wish! Besides, jellicle cats don't breed very well in captivity (if the articles I've read are correct) O_O

Well, there are those that go to extreme measures in order to ensure the survival of a species. I tell you, though, the calls I get from the conservationists can be quite embarrassing. "Hello. Yes, this is he. Um...no, I haven't breed yet. Yes, yes, I will keep that in mind...."

My guess is that, once there, I would be released "in to the wilds" of Yiffburg. However, if they try and attach a tracking tag to my ear (or any other body part)....

I always thought Fleecer looks like a penis.

being a Salamander... does he have an affinity for fire?
Can he stick to walls? Oh, the dirty mind boggles when all the things that can be done with that one are explored...

Wow... the more is revealed about Fleecer, the more I understand why he's the way he is. So his species is almost extinct - and having a mate corrects your vision? Yeah, I see why he wouldn't let that bit of information get around, especially to those 'partners' of his. "Hey Fleecer, getting any lately? Oh wait, I can see you haven't! Hee hee!" I guess Bunko and Skamm can kiss his his amphibian butt farewell... >=)

Yipes... I always thought that tagging a rare animal was a sort of "last resort" event. If they know you're in Yiffburg, they wouldn't need to tag you. O_O

Well, sure, but Yiffburg is still a lot of ground to cover. Usually, they consider my having a cell phone as a tag, I think....

Haven't anyone else noticed that INCREDIBLY cute bat? I don't think I've seen a bat as cute as that one in... well... ever. And I really enjoy this storyline now.

Though as a very newbie furry-reader (this is only the second furry comic I've ever read, with Herdthinners as the other one) I'm curious. She's walking around on two legs, while bats I've seen in reality can't walk at all, only kind of crawl. Now that you make four-legged critters into two-legged is understandable, as is wings turning into arms (or fins for fish). But is it standard to always "humanize" even very non-human forms? Beautiful as she is with those huge ears of hers, that bat can hardly fly. *s* (Yes, I know Fenton in herdthinners is walking around as well. He's got battish wings though.)

I'm just curious. This isn't meant as bashing the artstyle or anything (anything but that!). I'm party interested because people are discussing the salamander-species in detail, and seem very knowledgeable about different species and stuff, so I'm thinking about how much "realistic" details are usually entered into furry writing. Considering I've been told that cat's penises are "barbed" making withdrawing harder and kind of painful, I assume that's one thing that's usually ignored, for starters. *grin*

The whole concept of furry is to do just that. "humanize" animals. Anthropormorphic.

As for the batty, well, that all depends on the artist. There are atrists out there who draw anthro bats with their arm and hand structure *just* like a normal bat's, and make the body and legs humanized. Then there are some who have bats all humanized and bat wings growing from their shoulders.

It's all in the way the artist draws his idea, and how the owner of a bat character sees them.

But mind you, not all anthroed characters that look animalish are furry. Some go into different catagories. X)
