Ok, this is for a list of time travel rules from various Sci-Fi / Fantasy sources. Please post the rule(s) along with the source of said rule. Bonus points for humour, logic, and/or actual quotes, but remember,
"The points don't matter. That's right, the points are like..." - Drew Carey, Who's Line Is It Anyway

1) If you think ahead, you've "got all the time I want! I got a time machine...got all the time in the world! I'm sitting in a time machine!" - Marty McFly, BTTF

2) Dogs and time machines naturally go together. Consider Einstein's test ride in the DeLorean(BTTF). Consider Mr Peabody and the Way-Back machine.

3) Time travel in your own life time is probably a bad idea.(Quantum Leap)

4) If you time travel from a post appocolyptic future into late 20th Century earth, expect to arrive nude and either be chased by an Arnold Shwartzeneiger look alike or BE an Arnold Shwartzeneiger look alike. (Terminator and T2)

5) The same person cannot occupy the same time/space twice. See Time Cop movie and the Callahan Series by Spider Robinson

6) Don't ask about the brick wall. Especially don't ask about the blood stain. (Time Cop)

Okay. . . I'm not really on the ball just now, but how about:

Time travel is 100% necessary. Literature shows us that without Time Travelers, history as we know it would never have happened (Quantum Leap, Mr. Peabody, Time Squad, Star Trek IV, Voyagers [anyone else remember that show?]).

I so identified with that annoying little snot who knew everything that happened ever. Why the other guy shot himself instead of the kid is still a mystery to me.

I had a videotape once with a VO5 commercial video and the voyagers themesong/"It's all in books" blurb dubbed over it in slow motion. Interesting effect.

Forgive me for being a tad bitter about that name - you see, nobody in high school seemed to notice or care that Indira Gandhi had been assassinated the same day.

That was a mess. Killed by her own bodyguards, if I remember right. Religious violence is the worst kind, generally.
