That's it really! I want to type faster to get this up before I go into detail.
OK.....deep breath.......good
Alright, now that I'm calmed down allow me to reflect on Shane's first page.
I'm happy to see the traditional format has returned! I like being able to know which way I'm going to scroll, it gives me a sense of security like a warm blanket.
I thought that the characters were well portrayed. The only one that seemed off was Alisin. She seemed more evil (in a bad way). I guess it was her pointiness. I think she looks good in that outfit though. That's probably why it seems odd. She's not wearing anything baggy. Another thing I noticed about the pair is that we can conveniently not see their rings. Hmmmm....what does this bode for the couple? An extended ammount of time to see how everyone dealt with the "marriage".
The dialog (which has nothing to do with the art of course) smellslike it came outta Tilamook. I didn't expect to get such classic "hero" lines from Rikk. "Not in our state!" Oh geeze. I'm going to just wait and see before I go any further though. I have a funny feeling about this Hyperman guy. Rikk doesn't seem like the kind to usurp the Law's authority so blatantly. I also wonder what Kath is gonna do.
I do know why there's only those four though. They drove "across state" in Kath's car and didn't want to bother Rumi or Will. Shanna was working. (Another reason could be Kath is tired of cramming the whole gang in her ride!)
It seems that we just CAN'T escape the poke demons can we? They dominate the MiSTings scene, which then dominates the board, which then dominate the COMIC!!! If this holds true in the future I sincerely hope we don't see a Titannic MiSTing up.
Incidentally, the Puke-a-chu is rather reminiscent of some critters made by a "character" in Eugene, OR. She developped a line of toys/cartoon characters called Beanimon. They were all vegan eco-warriors and each of them had a name involving a bodily function. I'm glad I can't remember any of them specifically.
Heh, the more I look the more I see. I have a guess what action figures those are on the counter. I think it's a Momaw Nadow on the left (Hammerhead from Star Wars IV) and a Tyranid Gene Stealer on the right (due to the scale and posture, I don't think it's a Xenomorph. Yes I know gene stealers have four arms, go back to painting your space marines.....).
------------------

I know what was strange about Ali.

I agree with the Rev Aladdin Sane that this might be a dream sequence or something. The art is gorgeous, but the Fans are acting like parodies of themselves. The dialog sounds like it comes from a bad issue of some very forgettable superhero book. And Katherine is NOT that agreeable.
My only other guess is that the bomb will go off, and the explosion will take the place of the traditional fireworks to symbolize whatever's happening in Rikk's dorm room.
Just to add to the pile of random comments, I'd like to say that the "Avengers" style pose at the end is what throws me off the most. They're starting to look like a productive team of fans ready to clean up this town of the scum of fandom. That... bothers me... I start thinking this is becoming more like Scooby Doo and every story is going to end with the bad guy being carted away saying something like "If it wasn't for those meddling kids..." But I trust T enough not to do that to this great comic. So keep up the good work T!
Ok, I realy hope this is a dream sequence, otherwise the FIB has managed to brainwash (and put Rikk and Alisin through a stretching machine, both of them look a little thinner and taller then usual) some of our favorite characters.
For one thing, I have trouble picturing Katherine wearing what she was in the scene. It looks like something Ms. Cochran would wear.
Katherine either likes elaborate period costumes or comfortable clothes.
Second, I think this is the first time we've seen Alisin in a navel-revealing outfit that WASN'T the one she was wearing to the LARP.
(there a point? Probably not, I just thought I'd mention it)
Third, the dialogue... Rikk isn't showing any result of the sabotage Katherine did on him or his relationship with Alisin. No doubt, no shyness, nothing. It's like the Rikk from the first comic, only without the frantic energy.
If this IS a dream, I suspect it's Tim's. He's the one that looks most acurate and in charachter with his dialogue.
Anyone agree/disagree?

Another possibility:
Maybe it's a comic. Yes, I KNOW that it actually is a comic. But today's page could be part of a "comic within the comic". It's quite possible that Rumy is trying to forget her lost love by drowning herself in artistic expression, or that Shanna is sharing her story with someone creative (or that she's playing at being an artist herself. Maybe she has stacks of unpublished comics under her bed).
If it were a comic, the return to the traditional comic format would make more sense, as would the hokey superhero-ish dialog. Just a thought...

That and the fact that it is conspicuously very black, not to mention the aforementioned lack of arms. The scale is perfect for some of the models of them I've seen, the other figure, of course, isn't in scale being a seperate line entirely. As far as the other figure goes, could be a Hammerhead, but I'm not sure. The position is too screwy. I'm thinking a superhero with funky hair, maybe Mad Man (I think that's right). His resin figure seems to show up on a lot of comic shop counters.

Okay, time to clarify.
I regret not putting up a little caption at the beginning of this chapter that says, "Three Weeks Later." It is three weeks later. That's why Rikk is now once again able to walk around.
Most of the cornball dialogue is coming from Rikk and the Pokemon collector, who ARE cornballs. But there is a reason for the overall cornball approach here... and we're getting close to revealing what it is.
Based on the clues so far, I agree that this is probably Shanna's dream.
1: The ability to read in the dream. Of all the Fans, Shanna (she is an honorary member, after all)is the most text based.
2: None of the chemistry between Rikk and Alisin. Shanna is usually the one most out of the loop regarding Fans.
3: When the Fans split up, we stick with Katherine. This implies the dream focus in on Katherine, which either meens it's Katherine's dream (unlikely, in that she's not wearing armor and is not in charge) or someone who knows Katherine very well.
4: The two fans who have made the biggest impact on Shanna, Kat and Tim (I didn't say it was a PLEASENT impact, are the ones most realistic looking.
Ok, other questions:
What ever happened to the FIB intern? Did his boss just leave him in prison?
If so, I percieve a possible story line:
The FANS get the intern out of jail, and then the intern joins the FANS. He would be a valuable source of information about FIB, and we've already seen that Alisin can pump him for information.
Are there any star childs/xenochiclets still on Earth?
WHAT HAPPENED TO THE 23 SIDER OF POWER? WHAT ABOUT THE CULT?!? WHAT ABOUT ALISIN'S KNOWLEDGE (SHE KNEW!) AND MULLER'S KNOWLEDGE (HE KNEW SHE KNEW!) ABOUT VAMPIRE DRINKING HABBITS?!?!? (Yes, I know the last one has been claimed to be a mix-up. But I don't want it to be!)
AND WHY AM I TALKING IN (almost) ALL CAPS?!?!?!?!? AND WHAT'S WITH MY EXCESSIVE USE OF punctuation!?;.:

Another thought. Everybody seems to be acting like archetypes of themselves. Less like they actually are, and more like they'd be assumed to be from a distance.
Prognosis: FIB simulation.
------------------

Aw, smeg it! So much for the dream sequence theory, unless it's Rikk's or Allisin's...
(It could still be a FIB simulation)
On page 268, I can see Allisin wearing Rikk's Captain Earth ring.
Perhaps this explains Rikk's shock expression. "But... but... we're married!!! I didn't meen distract 'em that way!"
