Look at all the interesting tidbits stuffed into this one strip!
1. Tim's shirt: The very same that he wore at the con where they met Clara! How sentimental...
2. Tim the Fanboy: Various minor insights into his character, showing that he really is a huge fan of the Club. Also, having rarely seen the original Star Tec? For shame...
3. The last panel: Ooh, are we hitting a nerve? Seems that there are many layers to that old man...

Awesome, truly awesome strip today

What if the new guy had Clara as a first love as well, but not one from a distance? He's old enough, and seems to have some background in sci-fi(why else would he use a complete Asimov collection as inheretence?). Maybe that's just too predictable for T, but it would be cool to see them meeting again.
Side note: So, Rumy, first loves don't die, huh? Tell me, did you love anyone before Rikk, or is this the reason you're so stuck on him?
------------------

Rikk pined for Clara, Rumy pines for Rikk, Tim the Fanboy (or Timin, hee hee hee) pines for Rumy (and others). Now all we need is someone pining for Tim2.....hmmm....... Hey! How about Jackie! Heh heh heh.
I like the first frame, I keep mistaking everyone but Tim the Fanboy for other cartoon characters. I can't pin down a name on Shanna or Gramps' but Will looks wayyyy too much like Brian VanHoose.
Oh yeah, and if it's not going to be explained tomorrow.....what is Imzahdi? I know it's something like special or important, or is it a noun?
------------------

(If this works, I'll be shocked. I ain't been round this here parts for a while now.)
Quoth ThePsiCop:

Also, having rarely seen the original Star Tec? For shame...

His fanboyishness towards the club leans a lot towards hero worship. And his "first love imaginings" seem somewhat familiar. It's entirely possible that he's in love with any member of the opposite sex that's remotely friendly to him, or at the very least, not dismissive.
Also, keep in mind, he's a pup compared to the rest of the club members. I see a lot of neogeeks with limited knowledge of our world's 'StarTec'
(And I agree with Will on the new show, for the most part)
Quoth devlor:

Don't take that away from us JUST yet.
On yet another note, 20 cool points for the 'Imzadi' reference. =)

at the risk of being an itchy know it all (since i don't so please mercciful heavens don't flame me if i make an error in this) imzadi is a noun, and a tng reference...
Deanna Troy (sp) was Will Rikker's (sp) imzadi... or perhaps it was the other way around.. or perhaps it went both ways.. for the life of me i can't quite remember the exact details given my continuing thesis on the tng universe being an alternate reality to a popular comic strip.... if anyone is interested in THAT particular thesis i'd love to elaborate.. maybe someone will tell me i'm not crazy...

Troi and Riker referred to each other as "imdzadi" on the original show. If I remember right they trotted out the term right off in the pilot. T and I cowrote a Star Trek comic way back when that used the relationship as a significant plot point, but unfortunately the project never went anywhere. There's also a half-written (okay, quarter-written... eighth-written, maybe?) novel version on my hard drive. An early draft of the introductory chapter is mostly complete if anyone's feeling curious and a tad masochistic.
Maccabee
------------------

Imzadi: Betazedian (?sp?) word meaning 'First love'. Riker was Deana Troi's first true love. Deana, while not Riker's first, was first in the extremely special way Deana meens it.
Read the star trek novel Imzadi. Great read, if you can keep track of two seperate sets of charachters... extremely funny, especially what happenes to Barcly

And references like T2 and TNG could get pretty tiresome quickly.
I could have sworn that Rumy called him Timin, which was kind of cute. Not as cute as Timmins, though - but that would be a bit much.
Ah, what's in a name, indeed...
