"Megatokyo's" off-line too!But "It's Walky" been keeping it light. And "Eight-Bit-Theather" is, fortunately, _never_ serious. (If you've not been following, Black Mage managed to hit _himself_ with a HaDoKen Blast this week...)I think this dark begining is a lovely way to set the scene for this arc of Fans, with very appropriate artwork from the new artist (name? I forget...). However, I do hope that we get a little humor once we're past these opening scenes.Nullset out.

I can't speak for anybody else, but I know that I was writing this story shortly after the September 11 attacks. That may account for some of the heaviness all around.It's really ironic that CRFH and IT'S WALKY are now two of the LIGHTEST strips around, considering how well-known they are for their auctorial sadism.Monday's strip will be... different. <IMG SRC="http://www.keenspace.com/forums/biggrin.gif">

Nodwick's at Gamespy. There's a new one every Thursday. The whole archive of all the little Dragon and Dungeon strips are up along with them.
Frankly, when my Dragon subscription runs out, the two-page Nodwick comics are gonna be the only thing I'll miss...

Megatokyo is having serious server issues...
Sinfest's Slick just had the worst date ever...

Death and destruction on Fans!, carnage over at Clan of the Cats, seriously ominous overtones in Sluggy, Cool Cat Studio and Alice! both on hiatus -- seems like the webcomics industry's on a serious downer lately.Judy

To me this story isn't a downer, it is just good violent possible totalitarian future fun for the whole family! I mean heck, these aren't the "real" characters that we all know and love, they are just *ahem* phantoms of a future that never was. Rikk getting killed by a laser? Sad.
Rick getting killed by a laser? Fun.Soap opera drama, now that is depressing.One: "I love you!"

One: "But he loves her!"

Sluggy is bad enough. They're supposed to be my 'counter' whenever the other comics decide to be emotional and heavy (It has to be that way. Week before Christmas I read the whole archives for this comic and had a horrible depression until I found Sluggy). Now the only comics giving me funnies are Nodwick and Penny Arcade... At least they're never emotional...

Kovalic is an amazingly talented artist. The strips are only a pale reflection of the genious that is his comic book though.Jarnor23

Yeah, it's a dark season for webcomics all around. I'd wager that at least half of all regular updaters took a hiatus in Dec/Jan. Not to mention the recent Keenproblems...I'm proud to announce, however, that it's business as usual over at 1/0.Oh yeah.

Hmm, I started reading It's Walky about a week ago and finished the archive yesterday.I found it deeply disturbing; it alternates between light comedy and angst-filled depression with frightening speed. It's still brilliant though.Fortunately I can counter it with doses of light-hearted stuff like Nodwick, Pentasmal, Real Life and 1/0 (name drop:-). Couldn't find the bloody hidden link though.I agree, though, webcomics in general seem to be going through a dark patch (though Sluggy's been at it for a while, actually).
