Hmmm...Hiatus?
Apparently my Announcement Hiatus topic got deleted somehow...
Who would have done it, I don't know..but I also don't appreciate it...
So, today I add another announcement..I'm taking some time off. I'll be posting Cap't Mike's Guest week as soon as I can, and also my paintings...

wow Glych .. I like both of those pieces but the second on (blue one) that I like alot.
It "feels" like it moves.

----
BTW .. I am at work but I liked the blue picture so much I wanted it as my desktop.
I am at home finally and moved the image to here http://www.mninter.net/~gallatin/webjun ... paint2.jpg I am only posting this for any of you who think this is a cool background.
What do you think.

Wow...thank you. We were supposed to do a still life, but playing with the background to make it interesting.
The way I had set up that...um..."pot" (?) had this really cool shadow spreading across the page, so if you look hard enough, you can kind of see a turquoise outlined form of where the shadow would have been had I gone towards the realism side of things.
I'm no Dali, so my "realism" in this peice (the "pot") could stand some work. But i like it. I think it's successful as a painting in that the major flows of information (as in where you eye automatically falls) goes as followed (at least what i was trying to do):
First you see the pot. then your eye moves up towards the light on the upper-left-hand side of the painting, follows the action lines down to the lower-left, and the white squiggly brushstroke brings you back to the pot.
Rinse and repeat.
I'm glad you like it. Your avatar?
What are you planning on doing with it?
As for the other peice. The lighting on the painitng is not flattering at all. The yellow and purples are far more vibrant in the original, and there's also a whole layer of green you can barely see in image.
i have painting again tonight, so we might have a few more to stir into the pot....um...not the painted "pot", but you know...
*cough*

Re: Hmmm...Hiatus?
I hate to say this .. but I am curious as to what his stuff will look like. Also with the keen pages as long as you date an item in the future will it just auto update at that date? sorry just a thought.. probably wrong forum.glych wrote:So, today I add another announcement..I'm taking some time off. Yes, as long as you have the number anywhere in the filename (like 20020923thecomicwhatshallbeupdated.jpg) it will auto update on that day. In fact, David Willace has about 8 weeks of future "It's Walky" strips uploaded and waiting to be updated.
It should all be explained in the beginner's tutorial.

...and then everyone ate cookies and read "The Adventures of Captain Mooki" and were happy!

As long as you include the date you can even up load an Html for a specific date. Meaning if you want to add a link to a certain page when you do a cameo or something you can.
For Exapmle if you check out the Emergency Strips I drew for Glych way back <a href="http://glych.keenspace.com/d/20020422.html">WHEN</a>. You'll see an example of what I mean. See those words under the strips? The text and links we're just an html file with the same date as the comic. THat way they'll stay with that same comic.

Ack.
I am truely sorry you are swamped. I do mean that, I just got addicted to the strip recently is all.
If its page code help that is needed I would like to help. I don't know how good my help will be, I have read the keenspace taglosory and thought it looked basic enough .. that said I don't have a keen page to try it on so I should just shut my hole.
On a lighter note If either of the Captains wants to help out I am sure we can come up with something.
Or should we just send "please don't pull all your hair out in frustration flowers"

Actually Glych already asked me if I could help her with a redseign.
Unfortunately I don't know a whole hell of a lot about html codeing so I wasn't much help.
I feel so ashamed.
Hey Glych how come you haven't posted any of theose emergency strips yet?

The two templates should be in your account in the "Workspace" folder for you to download with ftp. If you lost them or they wern't there to begin with, it's no big loss. You can upload any page to replace them so long as it has ***todays_comic*** and ***advertisement*** somewhere on the pages like regular text and the files named indextemplate.html and dailytemplate.html. The one's they set you up with are pretty basic and just have your name, title, advertisement tag, comic tag, and a little bit about "This comic is copywrite of 'your-name' and is hosted by keenspace." arranged blandly.
as for folder structure, upload everything to the "workspace" folder as follows: just put a copy of all the images you'll ever use in the "Images" folder, put your comics in the "comics" folder (they'll disappear when they update and if you redo a comic, you can just put it in the folder normally and the auto updater will replace the old one next update so long as it's the exact same file name, otherwise if the old one is named 19821225.jpg and the new one is 19821225humbug.jpg then both will show up on the same page in alphabetical order, which is nifty if you want to go back one day and add an extra image or html rant to an older comic), and put everything else in the "webpages" folder structured normally as if it were in the base directory with any extra folders you want added. For myself, I keep it structured the same way on my computer with an extra "Images" folder in the "webpages" folder to preview my pages properly....uh, but I guess you really didn't ask for that last chunk o' info, but it would just be wasting all that typing to go back and delete. Nevermind.

Ok sounds easy enough, I am one of the many who is waiting his 4 to 8 weeks before keenspace has me set up. I will just make one with dreamweaver. The two templates should be in your account in the "Workspace" folder for you to download with ftp. Glych is there anything you would like to see?
