Isn't the outcome of these matches always predetermined? Wouldn't that make it a bit unfair, and more than a little contentious, when it comes to deciding who gets to win a match?I make a few hundred every match, more if I win.
More if I win

More if I win
One thing bugs me a little about the current strip (http://nipandtuck.keenspace.com/d/20050506.html), and that's this line:

Thats pro wresling thats preset up like a live action soap oprea, this to me strikes me as actual wrestling you know like other sports boxing and martial arts. its just that the majority of wresling has been taken over by the fake pro leagues that everyone asumes that all wrestling is setup and fake.

Fantasy
Remember, this is a fantasy setting.
What, the talking possum wasn't a clue?
In this setting, it might be possible for a 300 pound gorrilla to leap of the top rope of the ring, pile drive his elbow into a teen age girls gut, full force, and not be guilt of a rather grisly murder.
Just knock the wind out of her, and he wins.
My concern is, with the bucks she owes, and the bucks she makes, she would have to fight a long time to get out from under.
I foresee a solution, involving wacky plans and hilarious hi-jinks in the near future.
Hopefully involving three stooges style violence!
Hopefully heaped upon the chicken hawks who set Thelma up.

You can fool some of the people all of the time
And all of the people some of the time
But you can't fool all of the people all of the time.

The point of pro wrestling is to make money by selling tickets to something entertaining. This doesn't preclude having an actual contest with an uncertain / unscripted outcome (which can be entertaining to many people). It's even possible the people who televise the wrestling shows include a few such matches as lesser attractions.
One thing you might be interested to know is that the original Harlem Globetrotters, the "Clown Princes of Basketball", had a policy of always making sure to win the game before they started in to their trademark routines. ("Had" because I'm talking about when they started.) Their opponents were never stooges. In fact, before they contracted their own team of opponents, they went around challenging local teams.

Oh yeah, pay back time.
Yes, sir. I agree completely. It takes a well-balanced individual... such as yourself to rule the world. No, sir. No one knows that you were the third one... Solidus. ...What should I do about the woman? Yes sir. I'll keep her under surveillance. Yes. Thank you. Good-bye...... Mr. President.
