Sheesh, Max, can't you think of anything better to bring than beer?!? I don't drink alcohol. You want me to take out Kaichi, but leave me out of the fun at the same time. That's not fair.
I want some caraben soda, please. And some lemon cookies. That would be nice.
<img src="http://www.kyokipress.com/images/icons/ ...
Genjiro

Barbecue sound good to you, Sirs? I can get some of Juana's Best, It ain't beer, but it's stiff, (Kind of a Bourbon/Tequila flavor, from what I've been told) for the Major, and, fresh Lemonade for the Leutenant?

Sounds great to me!! And thanks for giving me the wallet back (oh yeah, and thanks for the compliment, even though I think I'm better looking now than I was at 18!!). Lookin' forward to the booze, too!!
By the way, Sergeant Kurtz, you probably don't get time off because your superiors think you're too efficient. Mess up a few times, and they'll send your butt on R&R quicker than you can spit, just to get rid of you.

------------------

Well, Max, there's this iddy-bitty little problem with trying that- in MY line of work, "messing up a little" tends to have fatal consequences (It's NEVER a good idea to get caught tapping "Official" communique's, much less decoding and relaying them, and being caught out with a Scoped Rifle in Town, overlooking certain districts is a definite No-Go, Dig?) I got lucky last time I messed up, and there was a fairly deep river under me, but... that was luck, which was good, otherwise, I'd have been smeared all over the countryside, (Note to anyone contemplating Skydiving- It works better with a Paraglider!)

Ah well, never mind then. If I wanted R&R, all I'd have to do is prang up an airplane, once. I'd get a couple of months of worldside duty for that. Which on Exedra means I'd be within walking distance of a beach, unless they posted me to guard duty on the grand interior salt mine. Worldside duty in peacetime is a party, compared to these cruise tours. We couldn't go anywhere, now, if we wanted to. Granted, I'd rather be flying than lying around on some beach, though. I get bored real easy, see? I'd be itching to go back in the deep within two days.
On the other hand, look at Kitten, there. Look what he gets for messing up: a couple of months lying around watching the comm and having nurses petting on him all day. And you know *censored* well they're gonna pet the little creep.
Just makes me wanna puke.

------------------

Max, I didn't mean it that way, it's just very difficult to make a Report Time from your end to mine, besides, I would hate to miss "Memory Day" ceremonies, it's a very important part of who my people are, and to miss one means that I miss out on the once-a-year meeting of the members of Kurtz Ranch, we're the only ones among the Ranches that don't have a physical center-location, it makes it hard to keep track of relatives, and I've missed TWO of those festivals in the last five years (both while I was on assignment to watch the Townies...), Adventure is all well and good, as long as it's someone else's. For us it's another month 'till Memory Day, and, with the Intraspace Portal Dan and Kaichi have set up, I can be here-for a while. Reassignment this far away from home might cause... problems when I got back (the gravity here is so Light, and I have to take a fistful of supplemental minerals due to genetic drift...), So, I can visit, but I can't stay.

Max, I'm going to ask you very nicely, this time: Please stop calling me "Kitten." I don't like it. Please notice I'm not constantly calling you "Gorilla," even though I'd be totally justified in doing so. The onus is on you, now. You can choose to be polite, or you can choose to continue to be a prick. I don't really care which you choose, but know that your choice will only reflect on you, and not on me.
Furthermore, I think after suffering through all this pain and humiliation, I deserve to be petted. It's petty of you to be jealous of me, and it isn't at all becoming. If you'd truly like to trade places for the next couple of months, I'd gladly do it.
<img src="http://www.kyokipress.com/images/icons/ ...
Genjiro

I've never been in space, (even the Portal's ground level), hell, other than the training on the Elgin's property, I've never been more than a few hundered meters off the surface, so I can't rightly say that I understand what it would be like for you to be "Grounded", except that it must be hard, or they wouldn't use it as punishment.
Still, I wonder... What was it like, your first time on another world, For you, I mean.
For me, it's been kind of fun, the gravitational gradient's prettly low, and I feel like a "Supergirl" in comparison (as long as I take my vitamins, otherwise I feel like (Censored), achy all over...) to how I normally function.
