Here's a little bit of news on the Love Campaign:
Donations: this has gone really well. Almost $200 in the kitty now, so there's a good chance that you'll get two extra updates in February. All of it will be reinvested in the strip, by the way. Part of the money will go to switching to the Keenspace Prime hosting plan as soon as that becomes available. Keenspace Prime is a new, fee-based but inexpensive hosting plan that will allow me to have more functionality on the site, get rid of Keen's standard banner ads, and not have to be in the same update queue as the rabble of non-paying Keeners Should be a winner, right? (BTW that doesn't mean the site will become ad-free. But it does mean that there will never be any evil ads on there, and what there is will be more interesting to you.)
And some of it will go to paid-for promotion, also on Keen. Ads on the network have become so cheap now that they'll probably be worthwhile.
Votes: There have been some concerns over The Funny Papers' vote counter. Some wonder if all the votes are counted. We can still make the top 10 before the end of the month, though, and in any case, I'll put up a new voter incentive strip on February 1, when the list resets. Then we will be high up from the start, hopefully in direct and friendly competition with Elf Life... Reaching number 13 even though we've only been on the list since the 15th is actually pretty good. But do keep voting, every day! It's important! We need to reach new readers, and one way to do that is by showing how popular the strip is. Exposure to the banner itself will also help, hopefully.
Fan stuff: There's been some response, but not as much as I anticipated. Of course, this takes time. Don't be afraid to send stuff in any case. ANd if you're not cut out to be a poet - well, there are things that the site needs that I'm not getting around to. Viewer guides, maps, overviews of the universe of ROCR, a sauna in my back yard. Things like that.
------------------

There within the forest dark
There dwell a band of six.
Cheeky rogues are they, for sure
And quite a diverse mix.
Kel, half faerie, bold and brave
And wont to go unclad.
Jodoque her lover, minstrel true
And of her ways quite glad.
Jake the gnome: of stolen goods
He's sure to make a sale.
As Tamlin takes th'ill gotten gains
To buy a jug of ale.
Ragna's planning 'sures their raids
Go off without a hitch.
While Atra, old and wise and skilled
Trains Kel to be a witch.
Adventure waits for such a crew
Behind each bush and tree
You want to know what happens next?
Well, read the Rogues and see!
That poetic enough for you?
