I would really like to put up a bigger comic, and even redesign the site to fit it in such a way that those who still have low screen widths will still be able to see the comic without horizontal scrolling. Should I do that, though? What do you think? Is the comic the right size? Too small? Too big? Let me know.

I like the current size. I rarely have my browser windows full screen. (I tend to have at least 20 windows open at a single time, and I often want to be able to see two to four of them at the same time. It works better on Sun workstations than on PCs though.)

Until very recently, due to some unknown configuration problem, I couldn't use Windows at screen sizes over 800 * 600 pixels. This problem ended at about the same time my scanner broke. Hmmm. Anyway, I now surf the Web at 1024*768, and guess what? I don't like what I see at all! Suddenly, ROCR, which used to look like it had a good-sized canvas, is tiny and shrivelled!
I would really like to put up a bigger comic, and even redesign the site to fit it in such a way that those who still have low screen widths will still be able to see the comic without horizontal scrolling. My browser screen is usualy set at 1024*768 and the strip the size it is suits me fine. With my sucky internet connection I worry more about increased download times if you decide to put up larger strips...
------------------

I should mention though that I absolutely hate using full screen windows and my browser window is usually less than 800 x 600 in size (actually, I use more like 500 x 650).
With all the little items and banners and menus you use, the window does seem to get a little bit cluttered, but I guessed a long time ago that there was a reason behind each and every element you use in a document and so I let it be at that.

Kidding aside, all I can say is that when I need to find sthg, I have trouble finding it. But this is largely due to the fact that most of the time I only use the comic and the forum, with sometimes a click on a featured link (directly below the comic).
But I cannot tell how popular all the other stuff is, and therefor how important.

I don't maximize my windows either. I keep them at 800x600 myself. Oh and the current comic size is ok. I don't know if I want a bigger comic dimension though.
------------------

Scott McCloud, for some reason, thinks that because the screen is horizontal, online comics should be horizontal too. One assumption behind that seems to be that everyone maximises their browser.

(I maximise my browser but I always have my bookmarks on the left, resulting in a more or less square viewport)
------------------
