That's correct -indeed that was part of the point of the Matrix. - it wraps around your visual impressions using material found in your brain. That way, a medieval character can talk on a cell phone.
(I haven't seen the movie The Matrix but I've gathered this from what I was told when the crossover was first discussed). Or Kel can do something that .... let's wait and see with that one.
I've got some webspace on a third-party host that I want to use as a hub for the FRAMED-Matrix sites, giving this sort of background information, and showing exactly how all the pieces of the puzzle fit together and what their role is in the mega-webcomics event known as the FRAMED!!! Great Escape.
------------------

Crossover!" signs early on to give people a chance to familiarize themselves with the other comics first.
I think, in reality, only about a quarter of a comic's readers do that. And so a goodly percentage will shake their heads and wonder what's going on for a good deal of the crossover.
But.... I must say, crossovers are a lot of fun (if also a lot of work!) for the cartoonists. You get to stretch yourself and break a few molds and whatnot.
A little info that might help you understand the plot :
The purple ducks are reality crossing creatures... they are what started this whole mess.
The evil duck virus : Explained far more thorougly tomorrow.
The bad guys : Agents, who have yet to make an appearance in the crossover proper, who have hijacked the ducks powers to draw more people into the matrix. They plan to slowly take over people's minds and make them part of their shared computing structure. (Cheaper to grow neural nets than to build them! No really!)
The good guys :
Kel :
You know Kel! ^_^ She's easy to pick out cause she's a little preggers. She's a witch, and not naked right now! She has some elvish blood in her, and is usually fairly practical. USUALLY. And least she doesn't have to deal with way too much beer this time.
Tom :
Near idiot savant. Extremely smart, extremely clueless. Kel sees him as a wizard. I draw him as he sees himself. Glych draws him similarly. Pam draws him with spiki anime hair. (Tom's hair is a pain, and I cheer Reinder for convienantly avoiding the issue. Recognize him by his chin!
Reese/Lisa :
both from my universe, Lisa is the black girl, Reese is the buff guy, they haven't really had an impact yet, but will later.
Spons :
The hovering purple thingee.... Not really a "good guy" but helping out to help save his own neck. Spons is a minor deity/imortal who swapped souls with Atom way WAY long ago.
Atom :
Human/Imortal/witch - Atom swapped part of his soul with Spons long ago, which made him immortal. He's originally wanted to kill spons to regain his soul, but recently is having second thoughts. He's the bald guy. His current timeline is Elizibethan England, I think?
Jody :
Girl with HUGE eyes and red hair : Human/imortal. She is from modern times. She got knocked back in time and met Atom some 2500 years ago. Atom made a deal with Spons so he could be with her in the present time too, which is when Spons took part of Atom's soul and replaced it with a bit of his. She is immortal for reasons undisclosed, but I suspect Atom's used the bit of Spons' soul he has to make her that way.
Ducks:
WOO! The ductective is a slueth, the female ducky is friendly and caring! They are jsut wacky! The real nature of the Purple Ducks is not clear, but by golly, can they cause trouble!
------------------

Kel sees Atom as (her idea of) a Moorish mage, because glych said he was dark-skinned, and because he is a magician of some sort. Kel sees Jody as a druidess, Spons as some sort of creature of light and Tom as a Wizard because she doesn't know any Gurus yet It's very hard to work with what Kel could realistically be expected to know.
Luckily, Kel had been working with an advanced piece of communications technology, so she can talk on a phone, and she's introduced quite quickly to the idea that you can bring stuff into the Matrix.
Oh, BTW, I use the main trio of Ducks. Cynical Duck looks like the Disciplinarian Goose from the animated Nils Holgersson series; Ducktective has a watchman's helmed and bell; Henrietta has a bow just like in the original.
------------------
