Ad Results

Post by EmergencyExit »

Here I'll keep everyone up on how the ad is doing for EE. This will also be helpful to those I know interested in possibly getting one on Deegan as well.

Counting up every page that my CG SiteAdmin recognized hits from, I got 305 hits from Deegan yesterday. My total unique visitors (visitors, not hits) yesterday was 2194, which is a new record for me (EE usually does around 1800, 1900 on its best days. past record being something like 2021). For those curious about total hits I had 67875 but I usually don't care to count those they're not as accurate to count how many people as visitors.

Also, I am #1 on the CG Guide. Whee.

So far doing good, and I have 6 days left. I had a bit of a scare yesterday morning, I checked really early and saw someone else's ad was up instead of mine. I e-mailed Mookie though and he fixed it right away. Hopefully everything else continues smoothly

Tuesday Report

Post by EmergencyExit »

Day 2:

I am now #2 on The Guide, the comic ahead of me isn't usually really high, they must have bought a ad somewhere too, wish I knew where.

Total hits from Deegan now is 824. A 519 increase yesterday.

Total unique visitors yesterday was 2730, hits was 131637. Huzzah!

So the ad results seem to be doing better and better, so far I think it'll be worth the money.

I also apparently got a 110 hits yesterday from a site called http://monkeysoncrack.com/ specifically the url http://monkeysoncrack.com/__/scripts/scan.htm and don't know why yet.

EDIT: The comic on the guide, Head Trip, got themselves linked on Something Positive it seems, that'd be what happened. They'll stay high on the list for a while now. Man I wish i could linked by a big leaguer.

Day 3:

Back to #1 on The Guide, with Head Trip right behind me of course. It'll probably go back to #1 after my ad is over.

Total hits from Deegan now is 1188, that's 364 more hits received.

Total unique visits 2610 and total hits 140100.

Mayhaps

As far as advertising goes yeah, but the real test is how many stay afterwards. It'll take about a week or two after the ad ends to really tell if there was a steady increase in readership.

I'm already planning another ad campaign for another 5 day week, still want to try Misfile's ad.

Three Days Left

Day 4:

Total hits from Deegan is 1509, 321 more hits. Seems to be the average, around 3-500 hits every day. That's about $7 for every 350 hits or so, which isn't bad at all.

Still #1 on The Guide, which is fun, but will vanish as soon as ad is over.

Day 5:

2772 unique visitors yesterday, new record. #1 on Guide and all that.

1805 hits from Deegan. Another 336 new hits.

Looking back though 7 of those hits were from being mentioned in a forum topic. So more like 329 new hits from the Deegan ad.

Anyway, the best I've done with paid advertising in the past is around 1000 hits over a month. With two days left I'd say it's safe to assume I'll have gotten around 2000 in a week, so I say advertising on Deegan is a pretty good deal. Next let's see how effective Misfile is.

It's hard to find good places with ads not through Project Wonderful. I currently have Misfile, Wotch, Alpha Shade, Rob and Elliot and Keenspot on my list of possibly places to try (I've pretty much decided for sure on Misfile and Keenspot sometime next year). If anybody comes across any other place that dosn't use PW let me know.

I went ahead and skipped yesterday since it was the day before the last and a weekend day. Now I shall present the final results of the DD ad.

Total hits from DD ad over 7 days for $50 for EE was 2399. An average of around 350 hits a day.

Woot.

Have you considered advertising there yourself, Bean? I'm always appalled by how low PD is at TopWebComics. I think that your writing and art are good enough to be more popular, they just need more publicity. Maybe somewhere else if DD doesn't feel like a good fit to you?

Bean was actually going to advertise there first, and shared the info with me. But he decided to lay back and let me go first it seems, he mostly wanted to see if it was worth it : P. Dunno if he still is now, but thanks to my ad buying he got brought up to the top 25 on the CG Guide so that's good. PD would get way more popular with some advertising, probably easier than EE considering how much better it is.

Actually I've known for a while I'd be going independent from CG. The site is in progress finally and I don't want to buy any ads until it's done. When the move is nice and over I'll probably go with a DD ad (Unless my lab rat NJ finds somethings better before then <_<)

Weird, I went to check my stats today, and I got gotten 2669 unique visitors, and I was all, but I had no ad up yesterday. I recounted all my hits from Deegan, and it seems I have a total of 2555 now, when it was 2399 yesterday. So I somehow got another 156 hits yesterday. he must have no switched it over at the same midnight as me or something. Even still with that 150 extra was allot of visitors yesterday.

So correction, total from ad is 2555 hits.
