New comic is great, I especially like that Calib decided to make the cube weigh MINUS two tons, although the other algebraic sign would have prevented the guard from following him just the same.

But probably would have been more cruel, Stuck to the ground in a public place would be humiliating for a gaurd, wheras flying through the air endlessly would be excruiatingly painful on the arm. You have to think of his alread emasculated Pride.
I thought what I'd do was I'd pretend I was one of those deaf-mutes

I'd guess that the guard has some software to stop VR-pain - you can propably turn it off as easily as the sound on tofay's computers.
I agree with the humiliation thing. It should, of course, also be considered that the guard lost contact with control. When they come looking for him, they'll propably have a look at the ground where he was stationed. The "air" above? Propably not.
