Webpage won't display in IE. (Solved)

I hope there is a simple fix for this problem.

I am trying to create a new look for my website nutshellcomics.com, i decided to start over fresh and so i grabbed a copy of the "Index Template from the wiki to experiment with it.
since the only way i can see the whole effect (that i know of) is to replace my index template with what I'm working on, this is what i did.
the site will come up in Firefox and looks the way that I have it now, but when i go to look at it in IE only the green background is showing up.

any tips or advice would be greatly appreciated.
