Comic Won't Update
Comic Won't Update
Hi there. I'm very new to CG but not new to ftp/web applications and such but I am having a real problem with updating my comic manually. I've uploaded my second page and I waited until the next night, thinking it might update at midnight and it never did. I waited a few more days and again it didn't update. I've tried re-uploading the image as well as doing the update stuff via the CG control panel for my comic, still nothing. Wondering if I'm doing something wrong or if I'm missing something (I've read most of the tutorials and I haven't seen anything useful about updating other than something that mentioned it was automatic). Any help with this would be appreciated.

Re: Comic Won't Update
Where are you uploading your images to?
You should be connecting to your comic via dread.comicgenesis.com (assuming that dread is the name of your comic). Your ftp program should see all the files on your account. Note that you don't put ftp at the front.
You should upload your comics to workspace/comics.
You should upload your graphics and images and stuff to workspace/images.
You should edit the templates in the workspace folder to change the look of your comic (don't edit index.html in public_html directly).
You ought not edit or place any files in the public_html side directly.

Re: Comic Won't Update
I have uploaded the new comic to workspace/comics but it hasn't updated. I may have made the mistake of uploading it to workspace/images as well as in the public_html side. I'll remove anything that's not supposed to be there and see if it actually updates...
Thanks for the help thus far.
EDIT: Even though I was uploading stuff to workspace/comics via the web FTP, they were going into the public_html folder. I've now put the new comic directly into workspace/comics via my external FTP client. Let's see if it works...
EDIT #2:Removed the images from the public_html's /comics and /images folders and now my comic isn't displaying... Tell me I didn't just ruin my site lol...
EDIT #3:I think I messed up my site. The dates are messed up and today's comic appears to be the same as the first one, the REAL "today's" comic in the middle (like a sandwich of sorts, not the tasty kind). How can I fix this?
EDIT #4:Everything's fixed except for one minor thing. Following some directions to remove and replace the comics on the wiki, I now don't have a first comic. Basically, it's gone because I removed the /d/01.html file (as instructed). Any way to fix this? I seemed to have fixed this up on my own. I simply copied the page source from today's comic and pasted it into a new html document named 01.html. I added the "Today's Comic" link and now it's all fixed. When the second page goes into archive I'll then fix up the first page to direct to it as "Next Page".
Thanks for the help thus far.
