Can't login to site admin (and a multitude of other things)

Post by Tentoumushi »

Hey guys.

1) So I can get into my personal account just fine but I simply can't get into site admin. I've tried every possible combo of name and password (using the forum login first of course) but it keeps telling me the user name and password is invalid.

2) It wont let me update any edits I made to index, it says I don't have permission to add files.

1 - The Siteadmin login and the forum login are linked. When you log into the forums, make sure that you sign in with Tentoumushi and not tentoumushi.

That's the normal cause for non-login-able-ness.

2 - You don't edit index.html directly. Ignore everything in the public_html side. What you do is edit the indextemplate.html file in the workspace side (for your index page) and dailytemplate.html for the other pages.

Have a read through the tutorials in the wiki (link in my sig) and if you have any questions, feel free to ask.

Yep I was sure to use the tutorials and I have a friend who has a comic here and he's helping me out too. I did try loging in to site admin with my forum user name as "Tentoumushi" but it still wont work with either my forum password or my FTP password. It keeps giving me the name is invalid message. I tried doing it in both firefox and IE, making sure I was logged into the forum first before trying. Everything else seems to be working though.

I've had trouble logging into the siteadmin too when I resurrected Agaric last week. It took me several refreshes and a restart of the browser or two to get things working. Have you tried maybe clearing your cache?

I tried it in both browsers and its still not working. I notice that two other new users just posted about the same problem so it's good to know it's not just me being a n00btard. Still, is there more than a 24 hour buffer period needed to get things set up maybe? Could it just be down for newbies at the moment?

Yeah, I've been trying all day and I can't seem to figure anything out.

Set up my forum account, got everything ready. Signed in while I tried to log in, but even if everything was exactly the same, I'd still get the Invalid.

I've checked all the links around here, checked on the Wiki, however it still seems to give me the same problem.

I seem to get this every time.

Now I made a different forum account simply holysmotes. All lower-case, and still, the same message. I'd even use my FTP account, stay logged into the forum and the Wiki.

Tried it on Internet Explorer and Mozilla. Restarted my browser a couple times.

Did what the Wiki said, by "logging out" of the siteadmin, logging out from the forum, logging into the forum, then trying again.

It seems more and more people are getting this problem. Is it really human error, or is there a problem with new accounts and the siteadmin?
