How Do I Set Update Time?

Post by Bellcountycomics »

Sure, I have the site up and going for my comics, but the update time is my current bug. it updates like late in the day, which in itself is an annoyance.

I've tried logging into my account (the login page on the main site keeps redirecting me to itself, so I'm having to use other means of updating my strips.) but the admin page I'm using is not entirely functional, and wont let me access all my features... I'm guesing the "Edit Bellcountycomics" link was meant for me to be able to edit this sort of thing, but I'm getting a page error when trying to access it.

A little help here?

Sounds like you're trying to use the old siteadmin. You'll need to log into the new siteadmin (use your forum username and password, then attach a siteadmin account using your comic's username and password) and change the Autoupdate Time under the "Your Comic" Comic data section.

If you don't know which time to choose, this may be of assistance.

EDIT: Oh wait, sorry...I didn't notice you're having trouble with the new siteadmin.

The only thing I can think to ask is are you logging in using your forum username and password, and then attaching an account with your FTP username and password as instructed in Steps 11 and 12 here?

No, it sounds to me like the login bug that was plaguing the server a few weeks ago.

The problem (at the time) was that for a small group of people (with no discernable common element) it was impossible to log in. They went to the right siteadmin page, entered their forum login and password (as is right) but then the login page just did a loop and went back to asking for the login details again. No error message, no way in.

The bad news is that most of those people just had to wait it out. For most it seemed to fix itself after a while (varied between a few days and a few weeks), some realised that they were entering the wrong details and it worked afterwards and for one or two they still can't get in.

The staff were unable to pinpoint the cause, and the server didn't register it as a bug so there's no solution other than "wait and see"...

Actually, it comes to show that I've been inserting the wrong data.. I didn't know it was the forum information that I needed.

I got it working now.. thanks!

You've probably already fixed the update thing, but just keep in mind that there are certain times of the day when comics often take a while to update--basically midnight US Eastern time and a couple of hours beyond that. If your comic is scheduled to update at midnight, it might actually update a little later, just because so many comics update at that time.

Also, there have been server issues lately which have been causing comics to update late, which could have been affecting you.
