Unable to connect

Post by theacademy »

A strange thing happened as I went Friday to post a comic as I regularly do when my ftp program (WS_FTP) refused to connect. It has timed out every time since. I hadn't changed anything on my end, so I'm not sure what to do to fix. Any suggestions?

Hi theacademy,

Something's screwy with the server at the moment. I'm also unable to connect to my FTP, and I also can't access any Comic Genesis sites, including http://www.comicgenesis.com . I assume the administrators are aware of the issue and are trying to fix it.

I was able to get into ComicGenesis, but my kept-for-old-time's-sake link to the Keenspace version of my comic stopped working. That just started up again today.

Hi, Laletrina,

FileZilla should give you an error message if it can't connect. What does it say?

Hi LibertyCabbage, thanks for your quick response, here are the mesages that i receive in the filezilla:

[Estado: Resolviendo la dirección de siteadmin.comicgenesis.com]
Status: Resolving siteadmin.comicgenesis.com address
[Estado: Conectando a 66.220.2.20:8080...]
Status: Connectting to 66.220.2.20:8080...
[Estado: Conexión establecida, esperando el mensaje de bienvenida...]
Status: Connection established, waiting for welcome message
[Error: Conexión superó el tiempo de espera]
Error: Connection timeout
[Error: No se pudo conectar al servidor]
Error: Can't connect server

The [spanish text] is the original, copy/pasted from filezilla, and the (poorly) translation is mine, in case that you don't read spanish. Sorry about didn't provide this information before, any idea about what's wrong?

The 8080 port looks unusual. FileZilla says the default port setting is 21. At the top of the window, where it says "Host," "Username," and "Password," there's also a space to enter a port number. Try entering 21 there, and see if you can connect.
