hmm. still nothing. I activated my password a couple days ago. I even tried it a second time, and it said it was already activated.
I keep trying my login every couple of days, thinking my account isn't activated or something, but I still can't get in. But if you look at http://threewitches.comicgenesis.com, it shows my information. (It looks like it tries to load the comic I uploaded when I signed up, but it comes up as a broken link.)
I PM'd STrRedWolf, and he said to make sure I am allowing cookies for this site. I don't think it's a cookie issue because I have tried specifically allowing cookies for siteadmin.comicgenesis.com:8080 on firefox and IE.
What's strange is, logging in under my other username (legends), I am able to log in and see the "Manage My Account," etc, screens. But not when I use my new account (threewitches).
When I log in under threewitches using IE or Firefox, it always gives me the "Logging you in! If it doesn't load in the next 5 seconds, click here." screen, and then it gives me "This page requires authentication, please goto the Login page." over and over.
WebFTP will do the same thing. I can log in under legends and see my files, but when I use threewitches, it says "Login failed Returning to login screen..."
but i can go in and change my password and activate it under the lost password utility as much as i want to...

The problem with the old version of siteadmin is that you literately need to close the web browser after you use it, because it doesn't terminate the cookie for an hour. Or maybe wolfie changed it. At any rate, it's undefined behavior to try to login to one comic and then switch to another one (you can't be logged into both at the same time, it'll delete the cookie and then you'll just get the same login screen over again)
area code
hi, I tried to fill out the form to join comic genesis, but an error keeps popping up saying that my area code is wrong. My cellphone (and only phone) was bought in maryland and the area code is 240. I used 1 as a country code. Any ideas on what I am doing wrong?
thanks for the suggestion. oops, I forgot to mention that i can't log in with my FTP program (set up with threewitches.comicgenesis.com as host name, threewitches as username, and my password.) I tried using butch.keenspot.com as the hostname, which was a suggestion i found from another thread, but that didn't work either. I get a 530 authentication failed message either way. any ideas? it sounds like my account is just no good. The problem with the old version of siteadmin is that you literately need to close the web browser after you use it, because it doesn't terminate the cookie for an hour. I wanted to check the status of my sign-up, but the link is broken. I was wondering, is it just down?

HELP!
um...yup, i'm getting the "requires authentication" message when i try to sign in too. this is my first time using this site, and it took me many hours and much cursing, but i finally got into the FTP, and activated a new password. but...it seems like things are a lot harder than they should be, and it also seems like more than a few other people are having the same problem as me. would someone please let us know how to actually use this site?
Sample Comic
This may have been asked before, so please forgive me if it has. But I found the 'pending' page and checked on my comic, "Hiakuma". The sample was huge. To change the size if I'm approved, would I have to delete the comic and update with a smaller sized one?

I don't know if it has been mentioned but on the signup page
http://siteadmin.keenspace.com:8080/cgi-bin/signup.cgi
the second line of the form is missing a word or two, it says:
Please Please Please only use one e-mail address, otherwise you will NOT an email.

Hmm...
I signed up and everything and I even got a new password because my old one didn't seem to work. I waited about 4 days after I recieved my password to try and log in. I type in my account and my password and then it brings me to the "Logging you in screen" then it goes to another one saying "This page requires authentication" and it sends me back to the login page. Was wondering if i'm doing something wrong of if it just doesn't like me >.> I'll keep trying once a day and what not. Thank you.

Okay here's the deal:
Phone numbers: Yes required, no nobody is going to call them, nobody has yet in the last few years. It's part of the anti-bot script. If your area code doesn't match where you live, then it won't work. Worst case scenario, you have a cell phone with an out-of-state area code, in which case just use the closest landline number, or use the state that the phone number is for.
Keeping getting thrown back to the signup/login/whatever page ? Turn off your firewall software, disable ad blockers, disable privacy enhancements, turn down the security zone in internet explorer, etc . There is a -lot- of stuff that can break a form, and it's mostly third-party software that does it.
There is a diliberate bug in the password-reset feature, if you visit the page, you will NOT be able to login without closing the web browser first, this is due to the incorrect behavior of Internet Explorer. Sometimes it happens on mozilla/opera but it's mostly a bug in IE. I repeat, visiting the password reset site, DELETES the cookie required for logging in, and IE does not let the cookie get reset, thus requiring the web browser to close.
If you are on Windows 95/98/98SE/ME you need to reboot the computer too if you are using IE. Use Mozilla instead.
If you didn't get the email, your email service blocked or bounced it. On a regular basis I get hundreds of bounced emails from bad email addresses. Just use yahoo or gmail if you are not getting your emails.
From the day you hit submit, 14 days to the hour the signup expires. Unless you verify the account within the first 14 days, you will not get the login and password. No exceptions. If it's 14 days and 2 hours, it's deleted from the system and not recoverable.
If you verify the email, it will still NOT send you the password or login untill 7 days to the hour from when you hit submit the first time.
DO NOT DO NOT RESUBMIT WITHIN THE FIRST 14 DAYS. If the computer manages to have duplicates, it can mess up the comic later.
Verify doesn't work? I'll look into that. If the email doesn't have :8080 in the address, you'll need to manually add it and then goto that address.
The signup and verify scripts, along with the lost password scripts have not been converted to the new format yet, so there are a few combinations of webbrowser+firewall that will always break it. If you are running something exotic please include this in your report.

I'm having the same problem. >>;. I've tried turning firewalls off, made sure I had cookies enabled, and even tried logging in on three different computers. T_T. And I get the same message on all of them.Wolfien wrote:I was wondering if anyone can answer this for me. I have a comic that I've had on Keenspace since about January (http://legends.comicgenesis.com). I can log in fine using the legends username.
I also started a second comic (http://threewitches.comicgenesis.com). The signup went thru fine (August 14th), and even the webpage seems to be displaying my info, but I cannot log into my siteadmin. I've tried closing the browser, clearing my cookies, etc, but nothing works. I even tried the password reset thing. The login page just keeps saying, "Logging you in!" etc, then, it takes me to a page that says: "This page requires authentication, please goto the Login page" over and over. I set up my ftp program, and authentication fails. Am I missing something?
Is there anything else I can try?
