Maybe you. I did read that, which is why I didn't ask for help until 8 days had passed. And that was a couple of days ago.

I don't know how connected the different problems are. Mine definitely seems like a problem of the site activating properly, though.

I seem to have the same problem Nerd does. I can siteadmin, ftp, I've run a full update...

Yet cobc.comicgenesis.com gives me the big 404. (I'm well past the 2-5 day window)

Well mine is up finally, thank you. I guess for anyone else with the same problem: just be prepared to wait 6-10 days instead of 2-5.

OK, I've received my reply email and its been over 5 days, but I still can't log into my admin account!

I changed my password, but it still gives me an error message.

What can I do?

My comic's name is Grounds for Insanity.

I think it's supposed to take up to 2 weeks now to get the second email. *isn't sure*
And for your other question, I have no idea. Nothing but the forum will work for me. >>;. I imagine you can change the description later, though. :D.

Just wait it out. Have patience. Mine took way over 7 days, to the point where I was starting to panic as to whether my email was working.
This is going in my notebook titled "Things I Didn't Know about Surface Dwellers."

I'm having a little trouble with the signup form. it's telling me that my state/province abbreviation is invalid, when I'm quite sure it is. I'm from the ACT in australia, but it seems to think that that particular abbreviation is invalid. any suggestions?

I was trying to sign up, but I keep getting stopped by the phone thing. Unfortunately, I don't really know my own phone country code (or at least how to type it out properly). I also don't really like the idea of giving out my phone number as technically it isn't MY phone number - it's my parents'. I would give my handphone if I could, but I'm not sure how to fill it in.

By the way, is it possible to sign up with a sort of sample comic page thing? That is - I haven't really drawn the first page of my comic yet, but I wanted to sign up to get the site in order first. I do have a few samples, however, which I was practising on, so could I submit that for the moment and replace it later with the real cover page? The art on the sample is quite similar to the style I should be using for the real thing.

Speaking of the subdomain itself, I kinda wanted to ask how much freedom is given with the design. Most Keenspace comics I've seen are quite simple in layout. I was hoping for a bit more complex one, so I just wanted to ask whether we have complete freedom over the coding for the site or is it more fixed than that?

Thanks. ^^;

Gives a list of country codes, you can technically fake a phone number, its only ever included if you breach copyright and keenspace has to cough up your ID so they dont't get sued.

For your sample comic just use any page that looks like a comic, you can replace it later once you get access to your site.

Also save the ad banner at the top of the page and a note saying that you're hosted on keenspace you get (almost) complete control over the design of your site basically.
Most peoples sites are plain because they use autokeen to update their comics and just use the default template.

sign in confusion

Post by Banquo »

hey...when i signed up to post a comic it didn't give me some kind of rejection screen, but at the end of the process (when i clicked "verify"), it simply returned me a blank version of the screen i had just finished filling out. is this supposed to happen? i didn't get anything emailed to me (i.e. password, login, etc); it's been about two weeks. what should i do? thanks!
there's no blood on my hands
i just do as i'm told.

trouble and toil!

Post by Banquo »

i'm having a lot of trouble getting the sign up confirmation email to come through. i must've tried the signup sheet a half-dozen times, but it just returns me to a blank screen after i hit verify. is it supposed to do this? if so, why don't i get a confirmation email. i'm from new jersey and i gave the first five digits of my area code, but not the other four (i don't think they exist). for the phone number, i followed the format specified on some of the help forums: 1(USA) - 732 (new jersey / area) - 842 (prefix / first three digits) - XXXX (last four digits, with each digit separated into one of the separate boxes / fields. i'm running zonealarm (which i shut down) and firefox v 1.0.6. please help me figure this out. thanks.

i just do as i'm told.

I'm no good at trying to find what I need via searching through forum threads... so since this is my first login, I guess this is sort of the right thread to post in. (what I'm really confused about is in bold)
I seem to be logged into the siteadmin page (it says logout: savemegebus), but there's no links anywhere to get to any site admin settings or anything. The only thing on it is
Siteadmin Main Page wrote:Finding FTP accounts...
Password does not match.
There are no comics available to you

Notice: Undefined variable: genesis_permissions_rows in /bigdog1/space/siteadmin/public_html/index.php on line 282
Am I doing something wrong? Is the site doing something wrong? There's also what seems to be an empty list of comics. I can understand that, I haven't uploaded any files.

Which brings me to my other major problem. SmartFTP connects to savemegebus.keenspace.com okay, the username (savemegebus) is okay, but authentication fails on the password step. It says "(hidden)". But in the settings I changed it so that the password is not hidden (and then restarted SmartFTP like it told me to).
The password I used is the initial password I received in the second email, because I get a 404 error when I try to login to (any of) the lost password site(s).

Someone please slap me upside the head with what I'm supposed to do. (email: gebus_cei@hotmail.com)
