Siteadmin:8080 issues? Please post here. (updated 8/25)

Post by STrRedWolf »

As you know, I've moved Siteadmin to port 8080 until Kisai rewrites all the utilties in PHP. This will be temporary.

The URL to access Siteadmin and Web-FTP is: http://siteadmin.comicgenesis.com:8080

Some questions:
  • Is this 8080 server have the same problems?

We're not running Apache on port 8080, only the default port (80). Port 8080 is being served by a small server called Boa. I use Boa myself for a few things, and I can follow the source code.
  • I seem to have a port 8080 server on my site.

Boa unfortunately doesn't have the virtual named hosts feature of Apache. Call this a "feature" for right now.
  • I can't access it!

Make sure your computer or your router isn't blocking port 8080.
  • I log in, but it kicks me back out.

Make sure your computer will accept cookies from siteadmin.comicgenesis.com:8080. You may need to kill any proxy software you have, or switch to Firefox.
If you have any problems with Siteadmin:8080, let me know here. Please include your username or site URL, as well as what browser you are using and what operating system you are using. Linux users, please tell me your kernel revision level or what comes out of "uname -a". If this is an FTP problem, I also need to know what FTP program you are using.

If you're getting a blank screen after logging in, please flush your cache. Login should present a "Logging you in" screen which will auto-load the main program (It's an Apache-ism that Boa doesn't support, and I doubt it's offical HTTP spec to do so anyway).

After typing in my username and password, it appears to try to log me in, but I end up with a blank screen, and the address bar is showing:

http://siteadmin.comicgenesis.com:8080/ ... /login.cgi

I tried shift-reload and also just hitting return on the address bar entry, neither helped.

Problems

Post by BananaTron »

First off, I am having troubles with updating my comic. I've done everything the same way I've always done it (uploaded comic in workspace/comic and did the full page update) and it's not working. Is there something mote that I have to do with the new set-up?

Site URL: amerika.keenspace.com
Browser: Internet Explorer
Operating Sys: Mac OS X v10.4

And secondly, posted a comment similar to t his one yesterday and it's gone now.

I'm having the same trouble as BananaTron. Updated a while ago and it hasn't shown up yet. Maybe I'm just an impatient bastard...

When I log in it doesn't give me the option to update, just site information.

I haven't switched to comicgenesis yet, is it too late or is there another way?

Try now, I've put in an offical login screen which should work around how things broke in the move from Apache to Boa.

Well, it worked this morning, but it's not working for me now. No idea why. (Maybe the load on the server is higher now?) Tried all the refresh options. I got to the 'logging you in!' page, but nothing I can do can get me past that. I keep getting a 400 error page (Bad request). Help please?

username: medialia
browser: IE6
OS: Windows 2000

I can't try it with other browsers at the moment as this isn't my computer.

Although I don't think it's a problem with the server so much as a lost, unknown, or non-existant password, neither the given password or my custom one works.

And now it's working again. For me, anyway. Odd. All I did was wait most of the day, then try it again, and I got right in.

Can't login.

Post by Soliloquy »

Hi. I signed up for an account July 18th. I was able to verify my email and received the next email with the password but I can't login with that password (the form says the password is wrong). I have tried to change the password as was suggested in one of the forums but it tells me that my username is not found. Also, when I try to login with ftp it says the username is okay but the password is bad. If you have the chance to help me out i'd greatly appreciate it.

Yeah, that's what happened to me, 'cept it never said anything about my username being found or un-found. :/ Also my FTPers won't connectwith either password.
Also, it seems that anything that has ':8080' tagged onto the end of it ends up giving me errors and 'The Page Cannot Be Displayed's (this includes the siteadmin, unfortunately). And my comic, for some reason, showed up a few minutes ago, but now I get 'The Page Cannot Be Displayed'. The reason I can't log in might be attributed to the fact that I'm behind a router (a LINKSYS Ethernet thingy, to be exact), but unfortunately my sister's the only one who knows the password and username to open ports and stuff in it. :( So I might be able to log in, but I'll have to wait 'til I can get the port opened up, then I'll throttle my sis until she tells me the username and password, that way I won't have to wait next time this happens (okay, maybe I won't throttle her). Anyway

By the way, how goes the troubleshooting of the FTP and password problems?

Just curious, mostly. I swear, my LJ has been getting a workout of late. *chuckle*
