Same thing for me.
I tried using siteadmin, the image has uploaded fine (I can see it on that FTP username:password thing you mentioned, but I don't know how to add it TO that)
but the site won't actually update.. It says it's updated, but nothing actually happened.
looks like the web-ftp no longer works
I certainly hope that's fixed, or I'll have to figure out a new way to upload other files besides comics.. in-browser FTP doesn't work anymore..

Well the truth is, that web-ftp needs to be put out of it's misery, it's 9 years old which makes it older than keenspace.

I've set this up http://siteadmin.comicgenesis.com/net2ftp/index.php let me know if this is awesome/good/bad/sucks/fail etc. Basically just use the same username/password for FTP on it. If it works better than the old web-ftp we'll finally be able to get rid of the old web-ftp

Ah yeah, that works fine :) (bit slower, but fine)
come to think of it, I used net2ftp once to FTP something onto DeviantArt, I'm surprised I never thought of using it for this.
So now the only problem is the site not updating
EDIT: okay, it updated now. :) I guess everything's fine. Everything's fine, everyone!

Oh, my, yes, that certainly gets the job done!

It'll take some getting used to visually--cuz the new and unfamiliar always takes some adjustment--but it functions perfectly well. Thanks! :)

It's slow alright, should my files be migrating over to this new FTP? I looked on workspace but it was empty.

:oops: I checked the public folder and found my stuff and best yet my comic has updated. Thanks :D

net2ftp might require some tuning still. You should however really use a real FTP client.

Incidently, the "ftp is slow" is more an issue with how the FTP server works, and not so much the web interface/client. The actual transfers should not have a speed penalty, just the listing of files, as the server has to check "every" file for permission, and that's why it slows down, since the GUI ftp's list the files before doing anything.

Wow, that was quick! And it looks snazzy. Thanks! I normally use a different client but web-ftp has saved my [day] more than once, so I'm glad to have this.

I keep getting the message

"An error has occurred
Could not generate a temporary file."

when I try to upload something there. Here's the details of the error:

The error occured in file /home/space/siteadmin/public_html/net2ftp/includes/filesystem.inc.php on line 1773.

How large is the file you're trying to upload?

Edit: Got it to work.

I am having exactly the same problem! I have been trying to update this in /workspace/comics (just like the old web-ftp) and tried it in /public/comics as well, but I keep getting this message:

"An error has occurred
Could not generate a temporary file."

Details of the error are identical:

The error occured in file /home/space/siteadmin/public_html/net2ftp/includes/filesystem.inc.php on line 1773.

* function acceptFiles (/home/space/siteadmin/public_html/net2ftp/modules/upload/upload.inc.php on line 248)
o argument 0: Array
* function net2ftp_module_printBody (/home/space/siteadmin/public_html/net2ftp/main.inc.php on line 313)
* function net2ftp (/home/space/siteadmin/public_html/net2ftp/index.php on line 61)
o argument 0: printBody

The files I am trying to upload are smaller than 70 kb, so size obviously isn't the issue. Am I trying to put it in the wrong place?

Also, I tried https://siteadmin.comicgenesis.com but it will not accept my username and/or password. Please help; I am already several days behind on my daily comic!

I also tried the ftp://username:password@66.220.2.20 suggestion and was able to get to an index of all my comics, but there was no apparent way to upload or add to anything there, which is what I really need to do

Did you do anything different to get it to work? Because I'm having the same problem too.

I got it to work the other night. But, it's back to having the same problem again. I've got no idea of what's going on.

Edit: Alright, I think I've got it. When you get the error page, you have to "go to the login page" link that they give you, and re-login. You have to use the page that asks for the machine/address and re-type in 66.220.2.20. It's worked for me twice, only after I did that.

This appears to be an issue with the size of the file or the speed of your connection timing out.

That's because you're not supposed to go there with the web browser, that address is what some FTP clients use. You need to have something like http://filezilla-project.org/ client installed for it to treat it as a ftp session.

Speaking of which, I recently re-installed my PC and need to know what password + username + host I need to put in my FTP program.

I would check the wiki, but the damn thing's broken...forgive my feebleness, but my strip's already a day late.

In my case, at least, I'm convinced it isn't the speed of my connection; the error message comes up zippy-fast.

And if a 205k file--not even a quarter of a megabyte--is giving this system the screaming-meemies...well...I'd have to say it's pretty darn useless. Just sayin'.
Kisai wrote: That's because you're not supposed to go there with the web browser, that address is what some FTP clients use. You need to have something like http://filezilla-project.org/ client installed for it to treat it as a ftp session.
Right now, I CAN upload a comic using: http://siteadmin.comicgenesis.com/index.php
...so my comic hasn't suffered from net2ftp not working, thankfully.

There was a time when I understood FTPing; last time I tried it, it seemed unbelievably arcane. This is why I've been using the web-ftp system since I started my comic just about a year-and-a-half ago. For some reason using an FTP client wasn't just a matter of giving it an IP address or something; I had to give it some sort of global zone or net nation or some weird sort of domain designation beyond just the FTP address...and I couldn't find that information for the life of me. I just gave up and used the web client cuz it was quite straightforward and easy.

EDIT: The Filezilla you linked to...? Works like a charm, easy-peasy. D'know what I was doing wrong before, but regardless...thanks! You're a life saver! :)
