Hi! I've been scouring the help forums, FAQ and tutorials up and down, and there's lots of help on using FTP programs but it doesn't seem to say the name of the host you have to log into anywhere. I'm using a program i got from my university for a web design class that we used to turn in all our assignments, so i know it works well, but i need the name of the host to get it running. I've tried "Keenspace" and "Comic Genesis" but they didn't work.
Thanks in advance!

Great!
and less great! that fixed that problem, and now it won't take my password. I tried changing my password to something else and trying again, and it still didn't work. Now what did i break?

Did you go here to change your password? :
http://siteadmin.comicgenesis.com:8080/ ... ssword.cgi
And are you using the right username? For the FTP that's also whatever your website handle is. For example, mine would be:
Server: tile.comicgenesis.com
Username: tile
http://siteadmin.comicgenesis.com:8080/ ... ssword.cgi

Re: FTP host name?
yes that's where i went, yes i used my website handle, and also though you didn't ask yes i did make sure i had activated it with the code it emails you. Still when i type in my password it just pops up and asks me for it again instantly. (my ftp program is SSH Secure Shell)Lisket wrote:Did you go here to change your password? :

UPDATE:
looks like the password thing was a problem with my program, because i downloaded a free trial of SmartFTP and it went right through.

Personally, I don't use DW and preferr to use Filezilla (which is free) and works with all the websites that I've ever worked with (including CG).
If you are deadset keen on using DW, then I think you need to set the port, but I'm not sure what the CG server is using at the moment. I assume you already tried using just your site (ftp.yourcomicname.comicgenesis.com) your FTP password (don't get it confused with your Forum password). I think you set login type to "normal" and try leaving the other options blank.
If your comic is brand new (only got the "your comic is ready" email in the last 48 hours) then ftp access might not have gone live yet. Also, if your account is new you may need to set an ftp password.
"Web server" and "ftp server" are different ways of saying the same thing. However, be aware that the main difference is in how you connect to them. Generally, a browser will let you look at what is on the server while an ftp program will let you put things onto the server.
