RSS feed with images
RSS feed with images
Hello,
I'd like to know if there is a way of having the imagens for my comics appear in my rss feed (instead of only a link).
RSS feeds are growing more popular each day , to the point that some people only follow blogs/comics that can be read through their feed readers.
I believe this has already been discussed here some time ago (I think I even posted about it myself in the past, but I couldn't find it through the search), but I'd like to know if anything changed on the subject.
I don't think CG's users would have a problem in having an ad/banner below the comic on the feed, in order to compensate for the increase in bandwidth usage.
Any info, ideias, comments?
Thanks!
DF

Re: RSS feed with images
As far as I know, nothing has changed.
CG still won't allow images to be fed through the rss system due partly to the "anti-hotlinking" system and party to the "must visit the page" rules.
I don't know if there are any plans to change this, but if enough people want it then I don't see why it wouldn't be considered. Serving the Ads along with the comic would certainly work and be pretty much the same as having visitors visit the page itself - it's just all the messy background coding on the server that would stop this (I assume, there might be other factors as well, such as a ruling from KeenSpot).

Re: RSS feed with images
well you could make your own RSS feed for your comic, and allow images to come through that way.
Re: RSS feed with images
@Neo Is there some kind of "requests" thread in the forums?
@Phact0rri Hm.. How would that work? I'm not much of a computer expert...
Thanks a lot for the responses!

Not offivially, but if you felt motivated enough you could simply create a thread in the general discussion section and see how many other people support the idea. I suppose if enough people want it, the admins might look into the feasability of it, though KeenSpot have the final say as they are hte owners of Comic Genesis.

True, but that would still be a violation of the ToS and result in account deletion.
Re: RSS feed with images
I've opened up a thread here about this:
http://forums.comicgenesis.com/viewtopi ... =4&t=88894
(unfortunately it doesn't seem like many users care about RSS feeds
Thanks you all for your help and tips!

Re: RSS feed with images
So, any news about this?
Any plans of CG to allow RSS feeds with images (this could be possible by including the ad banners in the feed - I wouldn't mind)?
Thanks!

Re: RSS feed with images
There are several issues which the admins are addressing, mainly to do with functionality and minimising downtime of the server.
As far as I am aware, this feature has not been assessed but if more people ask for it then it may be considered.

Re: RSS feed with images
Exactly. I posted this in the hope of having more people request this feature, since RSS feeds with images would certanly increase the readership for the comics (since it would allow for easier reading, and specially sharing - wich means an exponential source of new readers).Dr Neo Lao wrote:There are several issues which the admins are addressing, mainly to do with functionality and minimising downtime of the server.

But I understand it's not easy. This would probably mean a lot of extra work for the admins:
1) getting CG ready for this extra traffic
2) implementing the RSS feed with images
