I can't update my news box! >:(

Post by Mattman »

I've been wrestling with this problem myself for a few weeks, but I just can't fix it.

I can't seem to update/move/rename/delete or affect my "news.html" file in anyway.
I'm at a loss, any ideas?

From memory the system has changed slightly so now the version that sits in the public_html side can't be edited directly.

There are two options:

If you are using an iFrame to show your news.html page, then it might be easier and quicker to sign up to another free host for just the news.html file. I've been using ripway.com for a few years and they have always been on the ball. Simply use the iframe to connect to the file on your alternate host. The advantage of doing it this way is that you will be able to update and advise your readers if the updater on CG breaks and you can't update your comic.

On the other hand, if you want to keep it simple and put everything on the CG account, then put the new version of news.html in the workspace/webpages folder and the server will update the news.html file at the same time that the comic updates.

Be aware that this is the old server. Posts made here after the 4th of October 2008 will not be indexed (and will most likely be deleted in another week or so).

In the meantime, use http://forums2.comicgenesis.com/ - this is a short-term workaround while the servers are getting some maintenance. When we return to the normal forums, STrRedWolf will post another announcement.

I'm locking this thread to help people find the most current information - from http://forums2.comicgenesis.com/

Update: And now unlocked since the server issue has been resolved..
