ok heres the sich. im doing a brand new comic with one other (possibly two since the other isnt sure if he wants to commit to a larger project just yet) now heres what i need to know ASAP if you wonderful people will oblige.
can i set up a second comic on my current CG account?
how can multipul people run a single blog with two or more usernames?
thanks for any help offerd ill let you all know when its set up
Here's what I believe (it might be wrong): Submit a new comic like the first time, log into siteadmin with your current account and put in your new FTP username and password.
Blogs: If you're using an outside blog system, it depends on how that system is set up. If you're using the ***todays_notes*** tag, as long as you both have the FTP password you can upload blogs, but only one will appear on any given comic page. Some FTP programs will also allow you to edit a file (such as a text file with notes) that has already been uploaded, so that might be an option.
oooh cool thanks! just got to wait for the 7 day clear period then and the blog will require some searching but i have seen others do it so it proberbly just looks hard to me (HTML retard here lol)
There are different ways of doing it, some are easier than others.
For example, if you want to have some text underneath the comic with a little avatar of the person writing it and want different people to write that, then the simplest way is to write it up as a html file and use ***todays_notes*** to put that file into the comic. In the html file you write in what the person said and sign it as their name - but there is no login system.
The next thing to note is that if you use an external Blog (such as blogger.com) then some will support multi-author blogs. The only hard part is getting it to show up on your comic's page - and there's a tutorial for it in the CGWiki.
If you are going to have several people working on the one comic, I suggest having one person be in charge of the comic site (the "publisher") and have everyone else contribute their material to the publisher. CG isn't set up to have multiple authors for one comic (can be done, but it's clunky) and one comic can't have multiple login details. So if one person gets upset and leaves the team or wants to delete everything, there isn't much the others can do to stop them.
For the blogs, check out LiveJournal or InsaneJournal--you can make a 'community' blog there. Or Blogsome.com, other people can "join" the blog, sort of like a forum but with restrictions. This way, two people with seperate log in information can post news and things to this blog. Those are ones I've used that have multiple user options.
Other option would be to just use the ***todays_notes*** tag, and just have
Author One: blah blah.
Author Two: BlahblahBLAH!
and figure out what you're going to say over email or IM, or something.
