I'm new to the site (quite clearly), and can't seem to upload my comics. They follow the specifications, and seemingly when I upload them it seems as though they will appear, however they don't. Before you ask me if I've read the bit that says; "Upload file (Will be put in /workspace/comics):" - I have. I just don't know how to access that area of the site. I think I missed something somewhere along the line... (I don't know the first thing about technology and had to get someone to help me run media player once...)
Thank you in advance.

Re: Uploading
How are you looking at your site?
If you are using a browser, it won't work - you need an FTP program (a browser lets you look, an FTP program lets you put stuff on there).
If you haven't already, check out the tutorials in the CGWiki (link in my sig), specifically the Step by Step guide and the FTP guide. That might clear things up.
On the other hand, if you're already using an FTP program, sometimes new comic accounts take a day or two to "settle down" so if you are getting 'permission denied' errors, wait another day and then try again.
Or if I totally missed what you asked, feel free to post again with more information / questions.

Re: Uploading
I made a huge boo boo and I hit delete next to the last update date on my siteadmin page. I was trying trying to replace the last update with a revised one. Now I can't access a strip to go to upload anything. Siteadmin has been the only way I have been able to upload new strips in a long time. I haven't been able to access it through FTP for I don't know how long. Any ideas as to what I can do? Or am I out of luck?

If somebody, anybody can help me, fix it, walk me through it the repair process I would greatly appreciate it and I know now I will never ever ever, do THAT again. Man!

Re: Uploading
Im now trying again to upload using smartFTP and it isn't working. Now I don't know if what I deleted is keeping me from doing this or if there is still trouble linking to the server. Please help. I am in dire straights. I had just recommitted myself to making my webcomic better.

Re: Uploading
If you deleted your comic from SiteAdmin then that's not a biggie.
All you need to do is re-add your comic. At the bottom of the SiteAdmin page there should e two boxes marked "Add your comic". Enter the comic's name (what is on the left of comicgenesis in the url - so if it is comic.comicgenesis.com it would be "comic") and your FTP password.
If your FTP password isn't working for whatever reason, follow these instructions and change your ftp password to something new. Note that you will need the email account that you originally registered with.
With using ftp to directly access your comic, SmartFTP needs some settings changed in order for it to work. I don't know what those changes are. Filezilla works out of the box, so I use and recommend that. If you can't get that to work, try CG's built in WebFTP Client. If you can't get that to work, then there is something on your computer blocking you - check your firewall(s) and anti-virus and any other blocking software that might be installed.

Aw man! Thank you Dr.
Neo! One quick question. I downloaded filezilla and I'm all set to use it. What should my address look like? Should it be ftp.mycomicname. Or just the name, etc. I don't know for sure about this part and I think thats keeping me from getting in.

If your comic was bobby.comicgenesis.com then in Filezilla you would put:
Host: bobby.comicgenesis.com
ServerType: FTP - File Transfer Protocol
Logon Type: Normal
User: bobby
Password: (your ftp password)
Account: (leave blank)
That should work, unless there is some other factor (such as a firewall on your computer).
