FTP Assistance Required [RESOLVED]

Post by Ayame Ex_Goddess »

Hello,

I used to use FileZilla to upload my comic and pages into the CGen server, a couple months ago, I couldn't log in anymore. I skipped it and updated the comic through SiteAdmin instead. Now however, I actually want to chage the page but cannot reconnect.

I have checked the SiteAdmin for where to upload pages. Have I missed it?
I have tried resetting the FTP client. Are we finally off butch.keenspot.com?
I tried doing that thing with the capital letter in the first name. Worked with SiteAdmin, but not this.

I scanned the Wiki but all I found was a brief tutorial, but I did it fine for almost two years before this. In fact, I got the program FROM the Wiki page.

Please help. I'm sorry if I missed this somewhere amongst the FAQs. Believe me, I looked.

Filezilla works, but you don't connect directly to the server, you connect to your comic account.

So if your comic was bobby.comicgenesis.com then in Filezilla you would put:

Host: bobby.comicgenesis.com
ServerType: FTP - File Transfer Protocol
Logon Type: Normal
User: bobby
Password: (your ftp password)
Account: (leave blank)

That should work, unless there is some other factor (such as a firewall on your computer).

- SiteAdmin does not have an option for uploading files (such as templates), only comics.
- The Butch server was shut down a few months ago, the new server is Cecillia.
- If you can't get Filezilla to work, try the CGWebFTP Client.

Hello,

Thank you. I was able to reconnect. However, now it doesn't give me access to either the public or workspace files, just the stuff on my hard drive. Also, I have tried to access the ComicGen FTP site, my password and username don't work on it for some reason.

As far as I know, Comic Genesis doesn't have a general-purpose ftp site for everyone to put stuff onto, or at least not any more. You can only connect to your own comic account.

Can you post your Filezilla settings, and also any blocking-type software that you might be running?

Nevermind. I guess the directory listing wasn't processing. My computer just crashed, and after the reboot it serems to be working fine. Thank you very much for your help!

Oh wait - you draw Newscast? I've been reading that comic for a while.

I liked the evil pie storyline from the middle of last year. That was good. :)

And it's nice to have some closure on it.
