No, we are not Sprint. We won't ban you for bug reports, and we won't ban you without saying why we're banning you (with one exception: spammers).Uncaringmachine wrote:Ban us for what, the site not working properly? We aren't doing anything wrong. We have a legitimate problem and have no idea how to fix it. I use my proper login and it still won't let me in. I'm thinking about just making a brand new site.

Oh for the love of ...........
a) Report the error message HERE
I'm not going to continue to check a dozen different threads, I only want ONE thread to check.
b) Copy and paste the error message, tell me what you did to get it.
Helpful "Error 401 Unauthorized when I entered my forum username and password"
Not helpful "it wont let me login"
c) I have other things to do too
Did you know that at the same time the server move happened I also had to move from one apartment to another, rent moving trucks on two separate weeks, impose on roomie's friends to help move stuff, stay up till stupid times in the morning moving crap, have the new landlord of the old place try to push us out, called the real estate agent and gave him shit, sent and email to the guy and told him I want over a thousand dollars to move early and got a counter offer of one hundred to which I laugh at.
Seriously If I sound like I'm being harsh and pissed off, it's probably because I am, though not at you or anyone else, just at events that I'm not directly in control of.

Ouch. Tough break.
Well, hope everything goes well for you and all this mess gets cleaned up.
Right now, everything seems to be working okay for me. Thought I'd share a little good news.

I decided to post this publicly just in case others out there are having similar issues.
For some reason, I have been unable to upload today's strip (July 25). The auto-update didn't go through properly last night, and I have not been able to manually update, either. I get no error messages. The update seems to go into the queue, but it never goes through. The strip remains untouched in my /workspace/comics/, and my siteadmin eventually goes back to "no pending updates".

Not a bad idea. I've changed the subject line of this topic to reflect the current issues we're resolving.NakedElf wrote:Just a thought, but the title of this thread isn't really very descriptive--we might get fewer 'duplicate' threads in this forum if this thread were more obviously about things like login problems...

.keenspace.com redirector should be working again, now that it's pointing to the correct server. I'm trying to get Nate to give us full DNS control over the domain -- right now, we're only allowed to do partial updates on that domain. Ether way, I'm very tempted to kill it off.
We do have full zone-file level control over the rest of the domains on CG. It's just the old .keenspace.com domain.

Your browser is not sending the browser string (are you using Opera?) So at this point I have to say it's something on your end, do you have Norton or McAfee or something else that acts as a privacy enhancement?Uncaringmachine wrote:This is what I get when I type in my name and password:

Hrm. This is still a transitory period, correct? That is to say, as much work as ALL of the admins are putting in (And Kisai, you get extra credit for other aspects of life sucking simultaneously), comments like "It's on your end" are a little disheartening at this point. While there are countless mistakes on our end like Case-Sensitive usernames and incorrect passwords, most of the people here were able to get on without a hitch on Butch and only with great difficulty now. The login process, for example, is functioning, thanks to the efforts on your partKisai wrote:Your browser is not sending the browser string (are you using Opera?) ... and then turn left at the bookcase, then right, then another left, then jump up and down three times and touch your noes... but NOT with your left hand or you have to start all over!STrRedWolf wrote:If you're having problems getting into Siteadmin, try this (from Kisai):
Hit siteadmin.comicgenesis.com/?&logout but when it asks for a password, HIT CANCEL!
Go to the forums and log out of them. Then log back into them.
Go back to siteadmin and log in using the EXACT username and password you used for the forums. CASE IS SENSATIVE ON BOTH!
I assume it will take quite a bit of time to find, fix, and rebuild all the stuff Celia needs, but the end goal is a site that works on more than just the listed browsers and without the loop-dee-loops to get in... This is a transitory period, right?
This is what I get, I use Zonealarm and AVG. Turning them off doesn't seem to help at all.

The was done at 10:10 am central time.Your browser did not return the expected response theSuburbanLetdown

I don't know if this is a transition issue, but it might be.
Not that I'm complaining about having an ad-free comic, but we mature comics gotta pull our weight, too, so it'd be reassuring to have some mature ads around...
Anyway, my apologies if this isn't an actual transition issue, but it could be...
Likewise, I've seen National Lampoon ads around which really *should* be on mature comics (I mean, just from an advertising perspective, they seem best suited to mature comics, and I hardly think the NL people would object to being on mature comics,) so I don't know if that's just an oversight where the NL doesn't know the mature option exists, or if their ads are mixed up, or what...That guy wrote:I actually noticed the innappropriate ads on my page earlier... the NEWSBOX circuit was running everything from G to MATURE-NSFW comics on my page (I think I'm registered PG). I do believe the filter may have accidentally gotten re-set during the move.

Sorry dear, the only email support you get is when you can't login to the forums period.RadsFiles wrote:Major problem with the new login thing. And ow you just pressed one of my CS buttons.
Guys, #1 rule of Customer Service Etiquette, be nice. #2 No entitlement. You are equally as important as everyone else, nobody is going to get to jump the queue or have more personalized service. This is why the forum exists and anyone who emails me is likely never to receive a response. If the answer does not yet exist, it's because we as a group have not figured it out.
The instructions are clear.
a) Copy and paste the error message
b) Tell me what you did, what you're running, etc
So far I'm not seeing a pattern. The last pattern everyone had was MSIE running AVG, I solved that IE problem, and we are back to 'why only certain people not able to login while everyone else with the SAME browser works?'
More samples on the login issue. It's pretty much 'It doesn't work!' but I have yet to fail to login.
I have another thing for y'all to try.
go through your internet settings, locate the proxy or internet configuration, and TURN IT OFF. Or look for a setting called 'use HTTP 1.1 over proxy' and turn that on. This is really the last thing I can think of.
Oh and unless you work for a spy agency or under witness protection, you have no reason to worry about your privacy, nothing you post here would be useful except maybe to figure out which ISP you use and then we can point some fingers.

Right, this sounds really familiar. Take a look at the top of the page. If so, you're probably trying to access siteadmin.comicgenesis.com/login.php.
That doesn't work anymore. Knock off the 'login.php" part from your bookmarks or wherever and it should work.
Hopefully.

Now, please read the first post of this thread. If that doesn't help, post AS MUCH INFORMATION AS YOU CAN about the error. The more information the better, as you will find out as you read through this thread. If you are unwilling to do this, then the community as a whole cannot help you out.
