From what I've seen reading SmackJeeves comics... they're down quite frequently as well... Really? I only encountered down-nesses (yay, I just invented a word) that were fixable when refreshing. Ah, well.MoulinSP85 wrote: From what I've seen reading SmackJeeves comics... they're down quite frequently as well... (I'm thinkin' of just outright buying the space and hosting...)
Fact is, I have no money for a webspace, plus I'd need quite a bit of bandwidth, which would be expensive, as well.
Oh tale of woe xD
Hmm. I started loading episodes onto Smackjeeves one at a time but gave up after about 50 (out of over 110). I wonder if there's an easier (read: automated) way to do that?Miru wrote: From what I heard, DrunkDuck just has a scary code/page editing system =D (I personally am currently installing a mirrorsite at Smackjeeves)
Also, I never got a fraction of the traffic on that site.

yeah.. i'm a little stuck to CG because of things like free forum, wiki, my readerships' bookmarks, all the search engines i'm registered in... etc. And yeah... a monthly bill for bandwidth would be hard on me.

Yeah, no kidding...I've been having some of my better traffic days ever lately *when the damn site works*. I think the server God's have something against my comic actually getting popular.Amtekoth wrote:Yesterday I had over 4000 page views from a few hundred unique readers.Sphix wrote:I second that. What do you think it'll be today?
I have no idea how much traffic I've had lately because my stats have only worked on maybe five or six days over the course of the last month. I think I've probably lost readers. Fortunately, I've managed to direct some of them to my other site, which only goes down once in a blue moon. I expect that when the stats start working properly again, I'll find that my numbers are permanently down.
Ah well...
Ah well...
If there is, someone HAS to tell me. Because I have 300+ pages worth of archives and am currently sliiightly going crazy...Amtekoth wrote:

Hey, StRedwolf, or any of the other admins, just wondering---Friday, Monday, and now Tuesday it seems to be FINE early in the morning, US time, but by mid-morning it goes down.
Is it a BANDWIDTH problem on the new servers? Is just normal traffic mid-morning too much?
I know you're busy, and I know you have a real life, and we're trying to be patient, and all that, and I know how difficult transitions like this can be. We appreciate all the hard work.
Any news, though, would be appreciated.
After all, it's hard for us to generate ad revenue for Comicgenesis if it's down during the busiest part of the day.---Al

As the philosophical Cartman would say, "God Dammit!".
I wasted half an hour yesterday cancelling all my Project Wonderful bids in the morning then another hour last night setting them all back up, figuring I had a week or so before the next crash.
I'm breathing.
I'm breathing.
I appreciate what you folks do, really.
But can we get some sort of explanation?
Please?
Ed

Drunk Duck
DD is very stable, I've been there since September and have had NO down time. I have messed with the code to have the site just like my CG site. They have a great interface and readership base.
The uploading is a bit solwer than CG, but not as hard as Webcomics Nation.
I keep CG because I have a larger fanbase here, currently. DD is gaining ground, though.
I hope the server issues here clear up soon.

yeah, i think we all would appreciate a little update on the status of things...if anyone can give us one? Last bit of info I remember getting was that there was an internal DNS issue.
This all reminds me of a quote:
Up and down, up and down, I am feared in field and town, goblin lead them up and down.
brownie points to anyone who knows it. Googlers will be shot.

Hi. I can't reach some of my favorite webcomics such as the Emergency Exit / Parallel Dementia crossover. Please fix that. Thanks.
