Is there any way to delete yourself from CG?

I just kinda want to leave, and was wondering if that was even possible.

Simply delete everything in your account, the site will become unavailable and will be purged eventually.

Yeah...I think a certain person doesn't really want me here, for various reasons. And since I admire and respect this person, I think I might just fade away, so to speak.

Dude!

Some of us want you to stick around. If someone you respect might not want you around, running away won't improve their opinion of you. I'm just sayin'.

And besides, if someone's trying to make you feel uncomfortable, or wants you to leave, then that's their problem. Not yours.

Depending on how this "someone" is communcating his alleged resentment, you may consider reporting him to an admin.

If you want to discuss this privately, feel free to fire me a PM. I'm not an admin, but I should be able to advise. Or contact Kisai or STrRedWolf directly.

Generally we admins stay out of a person's personal business, and at the most will only act as a mediator between the people involved. You can see how any other action--such as "leave so-and-so alone or you'll be in mighty big trouble from me"--could be construed as an admin stepping over their boundaries in something that could just be a personal dispute.

However, if you are being genuinely harrassed on the forum itself; such as unwanted or numerous PMs, threats, or anything that makes you feel uncomfortable or unsafe, then yes we would step in to speak to the person involved.

That said, other than making a point to not visit here, there's no real way to be gone forever. I could IP ban your account if you really wanted, but that's a little extreme and I likely wouldn't do it.

Thanks, folks, I probably will stick around, but only post occasionally. And don't worry about the person I mentioned...they've said or done nothing wrong, it's more a vibe I get than anything.

On second thought....

Later, folks. Thanks for everything, but it's become increasingly apparent that I'm not wanted around these parts. The cold shoulder I'm getting from the aforementioned person speaks volumes, IMO. And no, they've still really done nothing wrong. So, catch me over at TWCL forums, or the Ardra forums, if you want to talk to me.

Assuming I'm still in the webcomic business for much longer...

Instead of running away, tell us the problem.

Mm. What happens if you run away, and said person simply follows you onto one of the websites you've conveniently listed? The problem will only increase.

I see it this way: it's your choice. If you feel ComicGenesis represents a poisoned environment because of the actions of one individual, and nothing will change this, then by all means, avoid that which stresses you out. You have every right to.

But here's another way to look at it, which might have already been pointed out- what if dude follows you and continues to harass you, knowing you won't do anything about it? Or what happens if dude picks a different target when you leave? The probability of the problem continuing is fairly high...and you have nothing to lose from talking to one of the Admins, who have already offered their help.

In the end, it's still your decision. Contrary to popular opinion, I find running away in certain situations works perfectly for me. But being forced to run away from a community you might find very endearing in the future...that just plain sucks. :(

Just to clarify...this person is NOT harassing me. AT ALL. If anything, perhaps I harassed them, without intending to. They're merely ignoring me for reasons I'm not completely clear on. It goes back to something that happened outside this forum, I believe. Or not, I'm not sure, since they won't talk to me!

I just take the ignoring to mean that said person would rather not have me around. They've been here far longer than me. I respect this person, feel what happened was mostly my fault, and simply wish to give this person some privacy, since perhaps they're simply not comfortable with me around.

I explained in a little more detail in a PM to Joel. But I still didn't name names, nor will I ever. It's a long story, so let me try to work it out on my own, if that's even possible at this point. Thanks for the concern, though. I still check this thread occasionally, but plan not to do much else until I can resolve this issue...I'll be okay, don't worry about me!
