Can I get my old domain back?

Post by Zanzarra »

Yeah, yeah, I know... "guess who's coming back"
Well, hopefully nobody knows me anyway.

So, this is the deal:

I used to have a ( keenspace ) comic genesis page, and I, uh, kinda retired.
Instead of going into infinite hiatus, I, erm, forced the page to shut down. By, uh, taking all the content off it.

Back then, it was "zanzarra.comicgenesis.com"

*coughs a little*

Well, so I ask myself, is the page still existing, or is the domain reserved...?

I DID some kind of preview pic and everything, to sign up all new, but I'd really just like my old url and everything back. Well, not everything, as in "all the content". Just the url.

My account kinda still exists ( not just the forum one, the ftp one, too, I think - ok, it's exactly the same name, d'oh ), so maybe I just need to upload new index and daily templates?

I just thought I'll ask here, before trying to register for a new account - since I still have the same e-mail, that usually causes a bit of trouble with registration forms.

PS: Typos, syntax, grammar... yeah, whatever. Someone wants to be a nitpick about it? We can discuss this in German, let's see who's got the better spelling, then.

I guess I didn't even get anyone to understand what's my problem...

A great start for a new webcomic.

Zanzara, you might want to contact an admin directly. most of us don't know about that side of things.

If you still have access to the site via your username and password, then you can just upload new templates and the site should come back.

It's throwing out a 403 error meaning the site's still there, there's just nothing on it.

I know, I've tried that today. I just wanted to ask around, maybe someone can definately tell my that my account is still there. As I wrote before, the nickname is the same as in the forum, so I kinda have to guess if I just can't remember wich password I've used for it or if it doesn't exist anymore...

edit:

Also... can I get the orignial index_template and daily_template files somewhere?

The code for the barebones template is in this thread: http://forums.comicgenesis.com/viewtopic.php?t=70890

If it didn't exist anymore, you'd get a 404 error. The deletion script doesn't run all the time, it's only when Kisai triggers it to go, so your site probably missed it.

Thx m_hat. Good thing you either have changed a bit over the years, or take the work at the forum here seriously ;)

edit:

btw, the linked templates either seem to be missing <body> tags ( though the </body> tags are there ) or I'm just dumb.

Woah, all I want to do is update my comic again, damn... but no, everything's fucked up.

Since I don't remember the password for my ftp account anymore, I decided to use the password-change-tool. But it gives me an error message that the username was not found.

So, the zanzarra.comicgenesis.com page does still exist, but the user "zanzarra" doesn't?! That's... odd.

all comicgenesis.com domains are wildcarded, so no matter what you put for domainhere.comicgenesis.com you'll get a 404 if it doesn't exist, or a 403 if it should exist and is damaged (from all the files being deleted)

If the password tool says it doesn't exist, then it doesn't exist. Just signup again for the exact domain, and it should work.
