Siteadmin? Nothing is this easy...

Post by DarkArtist »

Okay, I admit I have not updated my comic in about 8 months and tons of things have changed since the last time.

The surprise is that I was able to ftp my update and it showed up the next day right on time. It can't be that easy. Nothing is ever that easy.

After reading up on some of the big hassles going on I have a feeling that even though it worked, i did it wrong.

I used this address to upload

ftp://redlexi@redlexi.keenspace.com

I figure that is going away soon and all i put up via it will be lost?

Gods I am confused.

In short....simple non-computer geek words (I am a 40+ year old who did not grow up around computers and have no geek speak talents) what is the PROPER..step by step way to update and the addresses of the PROPER places to go to update?

And the new site Admin. I can log into it no problem at all. But then what. I see a link to my comic but nothing of any use. No buttons to check status....nothing that seems to do anything.

What is that siteadmin for?

You will not lose stuff uploaded to the old address as it goes to the same account anyway. However, you ought to start uploading simply to ftp://redlexi@comicgenesis.com

Regarding the new Siteadmin, well, once you have added your comic to it (and if you see the comic's name, you probably did already), simply click on it. It should bring up a new page with all the options you need (stats, account management, etc).

I don't know about the ftp, since I tend to use the Butch system (bad me. Bad.), but the new siteadmin doesn't have that problem often, I think.

comics in siteadmin have two modes. One as a sort of "favorites" mod, and one as an authorial mode. If you "added a comic", but didn't enter your ftp password and all that jazz, it's on "Favorites" mode, and you won't be able to check it that way.

If you did enter your password when you "added" it, try clicking on the title. That should bring up your list of options right below it. If not, try deleting it (from your siteadmin. That doesn't hurt the comic) and readding, making sure not to check the boxes below it. The password is the key.
This is going in my notebook titled "Things I Didn't Know about Surface Dwellers."
