Re: own domain
RPG World is on KeenSPOT. KeenSpot hosts only the "best of the best" and it is a lot harder to join than KeenSPACE, which has changed it's name to Comic Genesis (this fine place right here). CG is free for any webcomic creator to use.kirbydjinn wrote:I don't know if this has been asked yet but how do you get your own domian on keenspace? If you buy a domain name from some other site, CG will still host your comic on their servers. I believe you have to talk to the admins about that...

Kevkev: It's exciting, I know, but those first steps require a lot of waiting. It may take as long as two weeks before your account gets fully activated, so you just have to sit tight. Try using this free time to build up a nice big buffer. You'll be thankful for it later.
Kirbydjinn: Are you trying to get a comic ON Comic Genesis or trying to get it FROM Comic Genesis TO anotehr domain?
If it's the first one, yes. CG is free. You'll have to jump through all the sign-up hurdles though.
If it's the second, well, PM an admin about that (STrRedwolf or Kisai). You'll have to sign up for hosting on the site you're transfering to, and that may require money, but the transfer itself is free. Just talk to the admin about it.

In a way, the relatively long sign-in process weeds out the kids (referring to mental age, not physical age) that would go "LOL LETZ MKE A WEBCOIMCS!!!!!!!", create an account, upload three strips on lined paper the first day then leave it to rot, never to be updated again.
Honestly, one week isn't very long to wait for unlimited space and traffic and all the automated sweetness for us poor lil coding numbskulls.

Where are you trying to log in? Through FTP or siteadmin?
Remember that if you're using the new siteadmin, you log in first using your forum name and password, and then add your comic using the user name and password you received when your site was activated (though if you changed your password, you'd use the new one).
If you're trying to log into the FTP, again, you use the user name and password that were mailed to you (not your forum login), and you're FTP-ing to butch.keenspot.com.

"first page"
I'm moving my 89-page-so-far comic to comicgen because of reliability issues with my previous host. The first twenty or so pages are in very large .jpg formats so I picked one from the middle of the archives to be my sample image, so as to get under the image size maximum. I didn't realize it would go up as the "first comic". Will there be a way to change this when my account clears?

Yes. Once you have access to your account, simply go to public_html/comics and delete the comic you had submitted (it will be renamed as comicname.YYYYMMDD.ext). Note: 95% of the time, do *not* mess with things in public_html. After that, upload your comics to workspace/comics and trigger a regular manual update. Just make sure to name your comics appropriately for them to show up in the right order.
