Quick question about joining CG

Post by Ignacio »

Ok, I signed up for comic genesis last week and verified the account by typing in the number, and got a message saying that due to the DNS server having to update my info, it would take at least 7 days for me to get an e-mail with my username and log-in. That was Monday last week, so we're on day 8. My question is, how long should I wait before I get worried about not getting my username/password? I'm really looking forward to putting my site up, so I was really curious, I keep checking my e-mail 20 times a day at this point =D. Thanks.

concider yourself lucky. People who have been here a long time had to wait months before getting that stuff. Just sit tight a few more days is what I'd say.

To give you plenty of time to work up a buffer.

You! Ja, you, wif za silly loook! 2 month archive by time account ready! You hear me! Go! Nuff comic for daily update, 2 month! Two! Go!

For me it was 14 days. The "real" reason it takes so long is the signup process, while automated for users, is handled manually by the admin/s; each application is looked over by a real person. I think there's only one person doing this, and as CG already has.. what is it, 8000+ accounts, the flow of new apllications for revision and creation is a bit overwhelming.

I'm actually interning with a cartoonist, so I have to keep up. So...to the drawing table I GO!

If you sign up, you should get a verification email within a day (it should be within an hour, known bug). Once your verify your email address, your approval email (with password) will be sent after 7-10 days. This is to give us time to check your submission incase me, Kisai, or Teri have to veto it for legal reasons, and give the guys who think this will be a fast way to put up warez four fisted justice.

If you haven't gotten your email after 10 days, let me know with your chosen username, and I'll dig through the mire to find your password or what happened.

Hello again! OK, so I got the e-mail with my username and password [which didn't work naturally] so I went ahead and created a new password and reset my browser like the e-mail suggested. Then I went to comicgenesis.com and logged in, and the site logged me in, only....I get a blank white page, and the browser indicates that the page is done loading. Is this because I have to wait a couple more days, or is the issue something else? Thanks in advance.

Where exactly are you trying to log in? There are two different siteadmin utilities at the moment: http://siteadmin.comicgenesis.com and http://siteadmin.comicgenesis.com:8080

For the first, you need to be logged onto the forums before you access that page, and enter your comic username and password to link your comic account to your forum account. For the second, all you need is your comic username and password. If one doesn't work, try the other. You can also try closing your browser or clearing your cache.

If you're trying to get to web-ftp, I believe it's at the 8080 siteadmin. The new siteadmin has a way for you to upload a comic and then update, though, if that's all you need.
