Re: Webcomic Above You 2014 Review and Discussion
Happy to hear that my feedback was helpful. I can't even imagine how much work it'd take to get these issues put together, especially if you're trying to do it on a schedule. If you do ever start another collab project, I would definitely be interested in following its progress.

Re: Webcomic Above You 2014 Review and Discussion
Since Red Slime is complete and composed of many shorter comics, I wasn't sure about the best way to review it. I just decided to talk about some of the individual stories that stood out to me. Hope this review is still helpful in some way! RED SLIME First launched in 2009, Red Slime is a now-comple...

Re: Webcomic Above You 2014 Review and Discussion
I keep coming back whenever I see your banner or any other mention of your comic. I know it's good, so regular advertising reminds me to catch up where I left off. Glad you think it's good enough to check back :). Checking back sporadically is how I would recommend people read it, that or follow vi...

Re: Webcomic Above You 2014 Review and Discussion
Thank you for sharing your thoughts on What Nonsense Sortelli! You're right, from now on I will have to think about how to reveal things without doing a dialogue infodump. I'm glad the current chapter is a 'nice diversion,' I wanted to lighten the tone after the melancholy chapter 3. There will be a...

Re: Webcomic Above You 2014 Placeholders
VeryCuddlyCornpone linked me to this thread a little while ago and I think I'm finally ready to do some reviewing! I will take on Red Slime. My comic is called What Nonsense. I think I may have had it reviewed here years ago, when it was still in part 1. I'm in part 4 now, so I'm curious to know how...

Re: SergeXIII wants to review your web comic
Thankyou so much for the review. You raise alot of good points about the art, especially the rooms being too big. Looking back at some pages I noticed that the room sizes were really inconsistent and I wondered if it was something a reader would notice. I'm glad its not glaring, but I'll have to be ...

Re: who here can advise me on FLASHBACKS?
I haven't had a long flashback scene yet, but I'm planning on doing flashbacks in a completely different art style from that of the present. One flashback sequence will be done in the style of old movie posters with bold lettering, another will look like a woodcut with and have flowery script. The w...

Re: SergeXIII wants to review your web comic
I always appreciate feedback and criticism on my webcomic What Nonsense. Unfortunately, its not yet long enough to do a comprehensive review of the story (I'mma drawing page 33) but hopefully there's enough material for you to get an idea of what the story's going for. It's a comedy with dramatic an...

Re: The Best You've Ever Done!
This one's a little cluttered, but I think art-wise its one of the better pages I've done. It has so many panels because I wanted to do a transition scene in one page instead of dragging it out, but there were lots of different images I wanted to incorporate. I think it works out because it forces t...

Re: That's how you know it's mine
I actually enjoy using perspective, and tend to work harder on the backgrounds than my characters. I always have inconsistensies in my art. Characters that are supposed to have cartoony, four-fingered hands will suddenly have five fingers on one page, rooms will seems bigger sometimes or too narrow ...

WHAT NONSENSE 's first year anniversary
So yup, I've been working on the comic for a year. And it looks like it'll continue to go strong for a few more if I keep at it. :3 The comic updates roughly once a week. I'm trying to make it a consistent schedule, but as I have alot of college stuff to do at the same time I'm not in a position to ...

Re: mcDuff's reviewalicious thread
I on the other hand think that it's because said drama is usually poorly written. These kinds of comedy-drama transitions have worked elsewhere, just think of movies like The Graduate or One Flew Over the Cookoo's Nest. They both have an underlying dramatic tension even in the comedy, so that when ...

Re: mcDuff's reviewalicious thread
Thankyou for your thoughts, McDuff's. =D It's always nice to see a well-thought out response, instead of just 'generic compliment' or 'generic insult.' As to the coloring, I am aware that the colors kinda clash with the inking, but that sorta comes with the style I'm going for. I intended to give th...

Re: Webcomic Hate
Only fifteen pages so far? Yeah, you're just getting started. As the story gets longer it'll get much more annoying :P Yeah, I'm painfully aware of that. XD Thing is, I don't really treat it as a proper webcomic. The story is intended to be read all at once, so even if I could manage to hold down a...

Re: Webcomic Hate
I don't think I've gotten complaints about my irregular update schedule yet, and I'm kinda surprised because it's -very- irregular. Honestly, if I was a reader to my own comic, I would be kinda annoyed. XD But to me, I don't really care about getting alot of readers... Even if no one read or comment...

Re: Crit my layout?
Thankyou very much for the suggestions! I toned down the background quite a bit, and made the banner less tall. I would really like to have the latest page featured on the home page, but I'm not sure if the template will let me do that easily. (I use smackjeeves). But I'll see what I can do about it.

Crit my layout?
I have zero html skills, so the layout itself is just a basic template for now. What I'd really like to know is whether or not the banner at the top of the page and the background are ugly. I was going for a collage-sort of thing and think I might have overdone it.

Re: Digital vs. pen and paper -- a.k.a tools of the trade
My comics are all drawn by hand, but I can see the convenience of going digital. :) For paper, most cartoonists use bristol board because of its thickness and smooth surface. I use Deleter brand comic book paper, which has built-in margins and rulers (they're in light-blue ink which does not show up...

Re: Fan Service in comics: How much to give?
Ehhh, depends on how seriously you take your comic. If it'd just something you like to share with other people and have fun with, why not? But then again, if it seriously cramps the story, it's probably not worth it. But a little fanservice never hurt nobody, I'd think.
