Re: Looking good for the fans

Most of my opinions on webdesign for comics have already been mentioned, but I'd like to chime in my sentiments anyway. I think that good webdesign isn't going to save a bad comic, but bad design can kill a good one. If I can't find where to lick to get to the next page, or if I can't easily navigat...

I'd say that it depends a lot on how continuity based your comic is. If there's a lot of continuity involved in the main storyline then your audience might be put off by random silliness. One shots can also be a good way of exploring characters in ways that might not fit into the storyline very well...

Thanks, guys! I was surprised at how quickly 50 pages went by, especially since I'll probably hit 100 in just a few months!

As has been mentioned, updating in large chunks isn't a very good way to draw readers. Most readers aren't going to bother waiting a month or two for more material unless it's tremendous, because there are so many other comics out there that they can read now . While updating page-by-page might scre...

Rent-A-Thug hits 50 pages

Friday's update saw Rent-A-Thug hit the 50 page mark. It almost snuck up on me, actually, as I only realized how close I was to it last week. Rent-A-Thug is a dark comedy about the gangsters employed by the Rent-A-Thug Agency, which is in effect a criminal temp agency. Featuring horizontal strips, v...

I would leave it like it is. Anything fancy with photoshop will just make it seem out of place, I think.

While I would love to get paid for webcomics, Zuda's contract isn't for me. Like most people I'm none-too-pleased with the complete loss of parts of the rights that matter (copyright only protects what you've already done, so DC having the trademarks means that they control the future of the propert...

I frequently forget what day it is, which doesn't really help. School is the number one thing that interferes with comics, though. Stupid professors who want me to read books and write papers on time.

I think adding extra content that is only available in the book is a much better route to take than removing content from the website. The extra content gives people incentives to buy the book without alienating anybody by taking away the content you've already given them.

Hey all, I just signed up for the forums. I run a webcomic called Rent-A-Thug and have been looking for an active webcomic forum to hang out on. This one seems to fit the bill nicely. :)
