They're Back! Follow up or sequal?

Following on from where Smuggling vacation left off, the second story 'Day of the Deal' has now began. First four pages are up and I'll be updating every Sunday night - this time right to the end no matter what. It's a follow on rather than a sequel. Going up on the site which is far more action pac...

A Censorship/ban dilemma?

Am after feedback on a dilemma. Have received some media attention lately for my book Smuggling Vacation. The attention has got the book labeled 'controversial' which has done a lot of good to be fair. I've rolled with it and when a reporter contacted me from the Sheffield Star to discuss my attendi...

Re: Ridiculous comic ban

Certainly makes me want to read it! Definately, I'd want to see what all the fuss was about after reading that article. XD Copies are there to be grabbed from the site for the moment. Feedback yesterday was the prison has put it on the banned list whilst they review the situation which conjures up ...

Apologies to you all

After a great deal of thought over the last ten days I've finally decided to halt the serialisation of Smuggling Vacation. :( This is because: 1) The feedback from those who now have the book is that I absolutely should not put the last pages up. 2) It's becoming clear to me that putting up the end ...

Re: Best Day of the year?

Congratulations! Mmmm... the delicious smell of freshly printed book. Cool! Don't be nervous - you're the main man there, after all. And don't be disappointed should there not be a lot of customers - the important thing is the marketing aspect; making people aware the book exists. Tell your local p...

Re: Best Day of the year?

... and the punchline to all this is, my local Borders have ordered thirty copies and want me for a book signing this Saturday. I'm not the most outgoing of people but they say the promo posters go up tomorrow! Great, but scary news from my pov.

Best Day of the year?

BEST DAY OF THE YEAR! At last the printed copies of my my precious little webcomic arrived this morning. After a year or working away and listening to the many constructive critisisms, especially from the webcomic forums such as Comic genesis to begin with , my initial crude little strip has grown u...

Re: Is 5,000 copies over the top?

In answer to an earlier thread about 'Do comics and cannabis mix?' I've produced two covers and had 2,500 of each - one with lots of green for the smokers and a red, yellow and white colourscheme on the other for bookshops and comic shops. Is making it much easier to promote and sell. As for whether ...

Re: Is 5,000 copies over the top?

Break even is 2,100 for the print, assuming I make £3 per copy on average. You might want to have taken preorders first- seen how many people are interested, that sorta deal. You'll likely find 5000 is a bit too much, but best of luck :) As you're in the UK, is there a Travelling Man shop near you? M...

My serialising dilemma

I'm now into the closing pages of my story 'Smuggling Vacation' which runs to 74 pages altogether and wraps in about 7 weeks time. The dilemma I face is what to do when i reach the end? I've a print version to start selling in about two weeks time. So should i: a) Serialise to the end. Keep the fina...

Re: my sexy drugsmuggling strip

I see no reason why it denys the strip a regular comic reading audience just because it's now associated with Weedworld which is what, to me at least, your question infers. Then you're not thinking. I have no objection to comics that involve drug use, or even revolve around them, just like I watch ...

Re: my sexy drugsmuggling strip

congrats on getting into print - ... but im not really surprised about the subject matter of the magazine - now being firmly assosated with drugs and the smoking of same - is that really what you wanted ? It's part of what I wanted, most definitely. Smokers have been following the strip for a while...

It's kept that way on purpose. More a colloquialism in line with how people talk which is in keeping with the spirit of the strip.
