Schoolwork doesn't take much time. School slacking takes OODLES of time. It sounds odd, but it's hard to be creative when there are links to fun games on my desktop and useless websites to peruse.

My comic is only just reviving after a long laziness-induced hiatus. Awful work ethic, just awful.

The villain for my next story, Dragon Parallel, is one I've really grown to like. I created his mundane personality - an ambitious young surgeon who would do anything to get ahead in the life, cold and shrewd and on top of things. Then, he ends up in the fantastical world where most of the action ta...

Tried and failed to get a bookstore summer job, so I ended up scooping ice cream for tourists on Cape Cod. Not an awful job, and the people who work there are nice but MAN did I hate tourists by the end of the summer. Previous years have been spent at a supermarket. *shudder* Now, I'm away at colleg...

This is interesting. I wrote a story in High School by hand called Dragon Parallel which I'm thinking of making my next PARALLEL COMIC (my website runs several stories by me, one at a time). The problem is that all 14+ chapters look questionable by modern standards and the plot has become a bit...ho...

In college. That's cool, but there are so many ways to slack off here and the comic is the one that requires the most effort so it gets ignored. However, for the first time in WEEKS I am updating today so I guess my laziness-hiatus is over. My brother and my 3 other readers will be ecstatic.

Black and White for me. Color on Photoshop fascinates me, but alas I do not have Photoshop and The Gimp confuses me no end. The current short-story that's going on on my site is entireley in black Sharpie which I think is awesome. Others might disagree, but I have a passion for Sharpies. Except that...

Two things.

First, Comics Curmudgeon for the win!!

Second, the only thing in my young tag box so far has been a friendly argument with my brother about the metric system...

As another n00b, I'm trying to build up an archive and being consistent and doing the "soft sell" where I chill in forums linking to myself. I tend to kill threads, which does not help. I have a newsbox, which is my biggest source of indirect visits and my pog is awaiting approval. Once I have part ...

Gotta love Ugly. That's my vote.

Ugly Girl is such an adorable character. If the server was named after her, I would find it easier to forgive any occasional hiccups.

Of course, if this new super-awesome serv-monster has FREQUENT hiccups, the peeps will be mad.

More popular than mine.

...

~_~ (Not that I expect a three-week old comic with no humor and mediocre art to be very popular!)

My style of pages take about... eh, 3 to 4 hours start to finish. I always feel like it should be less 'cause even taking four hours, I'm never quite in love with how they look. They look quick and sloppy even when they're not. Script is super-fast, 5 to 10 minutes. Pencils take about hlaf an hour t...

I have a really inelegant ink thing going on right now with roller-balls for most lines and outlines in Sharpie to give the pages good outlines. Looks okay on paper, but worse online... which is a shame, as this is a webcomic. The key to the Sharpie method is draw nice and big, one to three panels p...

I gave my characters a bad life - the setting is an island in the sky covered in mines that belch toxic smoke, killing everyone by the time they're fifty. You'll have to read it to really grasp how lame I've made their lives, but they'd ask for change, alright... of course if they were talking to me...

Yes, I feel like I account for most of my own hits. The truth is, in my case, I don't feel like my story really holds up with the first chapter incomplete... and that won't be done for, oh, I dunno, fourteen more comics or some such. Well, maybe it's better than that. Just gotta keep drawin' them pi...

Would my characters have any chance if I've only been active for about a month? I assume that the established characters will be the heavy favorites to win... but entering this contest sounds fun and like a good way to get one of my guys and one of my gals some good exposure.

Yes, letting people know about the world in a side page can alleviate the need for tons of expository narration. That's one of my biggest insecurities as a writer, fear of too much narration. For that reason alone I think a background page is good.
