Re: Cafe Press and/or alternatives?
I've gone ahead with a zazzle store. I made a few items. Sold exactly one. To my best friend. But I still sold something and that makes me feel good. Also recommending Zazzle. Offers lots of items like CafePress, but with much higher quality, to the point I've seen folks selling merchandise off the...

Re: Query: Reading your own comic?
I used to go back more often. At this point I feel confident enough in the story that I don't need to as much though.

Re: What's your excuse
a) doesn't happen; I get my shit done, and if I don't, I keep up with my clients.
b) I do fix things.
c) Because I'm too damn busy keeping up with not needing excuses for a) or b). Also, I don't really see the effectiveness of posting in this forum versus, say, more niche forums / WhiteChapel.

I apparently do very angular jaws.
Aside from this, I have a distinctive sense of color and shading in my work.

Surely you can wait that long. Well, sure, but I still think 20's pretty arbitrary, especially when it means a month longer that I have to go before I can pimp. ;) Gotta put it somewhere, right? Don't worry, stick with this and twenty pages are gonna seem like nothing. Well, looking back on these p...

Re: Tablet Talk
Wacom Intuos2 User. (actually my second tablet. I'm... hard on my pens.) Anything other than a Wacom tablet is going to be a crapshoot. For the first few months, I'd take the paper scans and trace them using the tablet. As you get more comfortable you'll be able to freehand with it, which will speed...

Re: Retcons. Have you done one?
None so far! Thanks to the "luxury" of a buffer, I do sometimes get the ability to slip additional pages into the stream before they post, but that's more editing than retconning. And while the designs of certain characters have changed a bit, it's more a matter of artistic evolution /new outfits th...

Re: Why are we doing this?
I've always wanted to go into comics for a while. Even when I was in gifted courses and stuff, the part of me that "stuck out" to everyone else the most was my artwork -- even when I was in first grade and my stuff looked awful, but at least I colored my skin and hair the right colors compared to ev...

Re: copyrighting...
You wouldn't tell a guy he's foolish for putting locks on his doors, because his house has never been broken into. But you would if he lived in the remoter parts of Scotland, the most valuable thing in the house was a wooden clothes peg (without the spring), and the lock cost more than the property...

Re: copyrighting...
The general idea is that any offshoot product you make (like a game) will be based off of ("licensed from") your comic, not your characters. It may involve characters FROM your comic, certainly...

Re: Hand Drawn Vrs Digital
Whatever suits you. I've been using Illustrator (at least for my lineart) exclusively since about, oh... page 20 or so. Speed has been variable. It suits my style because I like the thick, slick, cartoony look. (Also, I happen to find it faster / easier than sketching out pages, but YMMV) Consider w...

Re: mcDuff's reviewalicious thread
You had me worried for a moment. Interesting how the dread of "Oh crap, I'm next!" works. ^_^ I'll see if I can't pare the text down in future pages, though you probably won't see any great difference until, oh... November (my buffer's already well out to there!), but since that's when we should sta...

Re: Webcomic Hate
I don't think I've gotten complaints about my irregular update schedule yet, and I'm kinda surprised because it's -very- irregular. Honestly, if I was a reader to my own comic, I would be kinda annoyed. XD But to me, I don't really care about getting alot of readers... Even if no one read or commen...

Re: Webcomic Hate
I find that RSS updates that put the image inside of the feed mitigate this problem nicely, though. Or at least remove that "Blargh! Now I have to remember!" detail. (Then again, I like having an RSS feed with the images in it for an entirely different reason... that reason being that Squidoo has a...

Re: Webcomic Hate
I suppose it depends on whether one's readers expect a schedule though. A nice big "updates irregularly" is at least honest, but if it's a lenghty story, it just screams "Blarrghh" at the back of my mind. I hate irregular updates with a vengeance. Especially as I use "Morning Coffee" to keep up wit...
