I'm more curious as to why the male-writer/female-artist dynamic appears to be so pervasive. I can think of several comics that have this set-up, but off the top of my head I can't think of a mixed pairing where it is the other way around.

Actually, I think my pog generates a fair amount of traffic. According to my stats, a chunk of traffic comes from the main CG page and I assume that is via the pog. We actually do a fair amount of historical research (seeing as it is set in France during the Hundred Years War), even if we end up ignoring so much of it. I think we just prefer to know when we're being anachronistic. A lot of it becomes a jumping off point if nothing else.

Just to clarify, I'm guessing that minor extra features that typically are connected with the submission through the siteadmin (such as pogs and banners) are on hold as well?
