Gimp makes gifs. You can choose to animate when you save as gif. It turns each layer into a frame and allows you to specify the time between frames.

around 35% of people still use 1024x768. Given how annoying it is to scroll horizontally, you'd probably be losing that whole third of your readers if you went to a higher resolution. I'm of the opinion that webcomic authors with high-quality art should offer multiple resolutions. That way you don'...

Some people think tip jars are tacky. You probably aren't care about that though. I've never heard any rule about how long to wait until you put up a tip jar. The general rule about advertising is don't advertise until you have 20ish* (more or less) strips. This allows people visiting your site to s...

I'm sure some other people will soon chime in with more creative ways to make money from a webcomic. Murder-for-hire. There's always a demand. Just about the only people making money in the webcomic world are people with merchandise (cups, shirts, mousepads, etc.) and people who sell print version ...

Yes, anyway, moving past the forum angst... I think decompression is a valuable tool in comic story-telling. I do believe it's ridiculous to heavily incorporate decompression into a comic which updates slowly. However, even this techinque can be useful. A one-update delay may not hurt a really well ...

Apart from, you know, the fascism. That always seems to get in the way. Rip van: ... The whole nazi thing would make social gatherings awkward. ...not to mention the whole undead vampiric warmongering and support of outright cold-blooded murder (for no reason, too - for shame ). I vote Rip. M...

"As long as they're paid under contract, the Wild Geese will never betray us." I expect Pip, being a true professional and all, probably feels pretty bad about putting Hellsing in danger. Way to get you're boss killed. EDIT: Course, it was Walter who said that, so I'm sure he still feels wors...

Is there a word for a villain-character that is the protagonist? ie. Tony Soprano, Hannibal Lecter, Wile -e Coyote Anti-hero? I think an anti-hero is still a hero. They're doing the Right Thing, they're just sulking while they do it. I think the word is just "protagonist". With a lower-case "p". .....

If I was to write a villain, I'd make them be like me, but evil. let them do all the horrible, nasty things that I'd do if it wasn't for all those nasty consequences. That's how I write my main villain, bad sense of humor and a love of trashy melodrama and all. He's a complete Mary-Sue author-inser...

err... the punisher and cap are marvel superheroes. Like all Pop they change to what the writer deems "cool" at any particular time. if you look at Capt from say five years ago, he was a conservative patriot (ala Mark Waid's run) when Millar and Bendis wrote him up for civil war he turned to left w...

Pip's groveling seems to have spared him the same level of venom poor Seras got, have to say that's something of a disappointment, never pegged Integra as the kind of leader open to such a typical toady style dodge. Pip is a professional mercenary from a family of professional mercenaries. He doesn...

This reminds me of the scene in Back to the Future where Doc explains time travel to Marty in the Twin Pines Mall parking lot. To keep the scene from being dull while they talk for several minutes, the actors spend the time walking up and down stage alternately. Doc moves upstage, Marty moves down s...

I plan on re-doing my mistakes. I plan on re-doing my comic, but it's the first/last time. I'm going to do everything right. The story has been revamped and polished, the dialouge reviewed a dozen times, the art will be in a new, better, and consistant style, staging and framing will be comple...

One of my dads lives literally at the end of the phone line. The line stops at his house and doesn't continue any further. Do the phone lines go through anybody's house? Darthur Bent: "Excuse me, but why does it have to go though my house?" Contractor: "Because it's a telephone bypass. Telephone by...
