Re: Bad old cartoons

I have a cheap DVD full of old cartoons, including "Jungle Jitters," one of the censored eleven. It had some pretty silly caricatures of African tribesmen, which I guess some people would find offensive. But this is a form of entertainment that caricatures everything , so I don't know if I agree tha...

Re: What movies have you seen recently?

Bela Lugosi. Pretty hilarious, but also pretty cool. Not as creepy as Nosferatu, but man, Renfield. I had a bigger laugh watching the 1992 version, Bram Stoker's Dracula. I mean, it was a good attempt, but I don't think Dracula can be scary anymore. All the scenes that tried to be creepy were just ...

Re: Background art - any tips?

Background art can be time-consuming, but if you feel you have to cut corners somehow, please don't do it by pasting your characters in front of a photograph. It never looks right, no matter how many photoshop filters you run it through. Way too many webcomics try to pull this off, including a few t...

...the new character Nick Harris, who returns to Isla Nublar, the location of the first film, and retrieves Dennis Nedry's can of frozen embryos. He is captured by the Grendel corporation, which now owns InGen, and he is hired to train five genetically modified Deinonychus as mercenaries. I'm prett...

Re: Ever do a tally of all the comics you've ever done?

It's hard to say. Back when I did sprite comics (gasp) I did a ton of guest strips and one-shot stories that have since disappeared from the Internet. But I'll guess it was around 250 overall. Then there was Capture the Flag , which lasted about 30 pages, and my current one's up to 42. I probably ha...

Re: What movies have you seen recently?

Romero's Diary of the Dead . I went in with the attitude "Oh it's Cloverfield but with zombies," but it's obvious within the first five minutes that this movie wasn't trying to be like that at all. It's more like an actual film than a home movie, just with lots of shaky camera shots. Maybe that's wh...

Re: Hand Drawn Vrs Digital

I do almost everything digital now. Not only does it save the hassle of scanning my work (I don't have a scanner, so running down to the library makes this a bigger point than you might think), but it's easier to edit things. If I don't like how a drawing looks on paper, it can get pretty messy eras...

Pathfinders of Alk

Since my comic now has two complete chapters for you to see, I figured now's a good time to pitch it. http://pathfinders.comicgenesis.com Pathfinders of Alk follows the adventure of a unique group of pioneers as they explore the vast, mysterious desert of Alk, hoping to find what lies beyond it. Mea...

I read Head Trip occasionally, but only through the artist's deviantart page. I actually didn't even know it was a comicgenesis strip.

I suggest you spend more time studying that style you're going for, because this kind of comic would work best with consistent artwork. Anatomy and perspective need work, too.

Re: What movies have you seen recently?

The Gods Must be Crazy - I was surprised by how much I liked this one. In spite of some cheap production values and the worst dubbing this side of Manos: THOF, it's an enjoyable film. Dark Portals: The Chronicles of Vidocq - WOW this was a weird one. I personally thought it was terrible, but it has...

Re: 100th page! -ZYXTH - Spirits, Second Chances and Elements...

I'm still going through the early pages, but here are a couple thoughts I have so far: "Data" is a bit too ambiguous a name for your archives page. Why not simply "Archive," or even "Chapters?" Lots of exposition going on in these first few pages. I usually don't mind this if there's an engaging con...

Re: Why are we doing this?

I just happen to like drawing. And writing. Mix the two, and bam! I'm happy. So I figure, if I'm going to be drawing comics anyway, which I am, why not post 'em on the web? Plus, giving myself an update schedule and sticking to it actually helps me get more done on my own. I have ore drive to do th...

Capture the Flag

http://kramerthebird.comicgenesis.com/ Capture the Flag is the story of a group of kids and their two rival clubhouses. The dominating clubhouse is determined by how many games of capture the flag it wins, which are held every so often in the neighborhood. I can't explain it much bettter than that b...

I'm very slow at drawing, mostly because I have to use a mouse to do it. I have gotten much faster though... at first it took about two hours to finish one panel, now I can do the same job in thirty minutes.
