methinks you have bad software. There is no way you should be seeing an error about missing username unless your browser does not support http digest authentication. In which case I humbly suggest to upgrade your web browser to something made this century. Firefox, Opera, and even MSIE6+ do support...

Then came the Face on Mars thing. Even the first picture, you really could see it was just a rock formation in half shadow, and only "looked like a face" if you assumed it was bilaterally symmetrical. He latched onto that in a big way... then when the later photos showed it in more detail in full l...

Oh, Coast-to-Coast. Phbbbt. There is no nonsense so unspeakably silly that it doesn't get broadcast nightly on Coast-to-Coast. It's the Weakly World News of radio. (Weakly World News, on the day Argentina invaded the Falkland Islands, had a headline "HITLER IS ALIVE, AND AT AGE 90 MASTERMINDS THE F...

As tasteless as the video is, it will prevent people (*cough*Moore*cough*) from starting conspiracy theories and urban myths such as saying Saddam didn't die, but was instead spirited away into hiding.. ...They can't deny his body swining from the rope on camera. Too late. Yes they can, conspiracy ...

What I find odd is a few papers are trying to translate this as 'There is no God but God' rather than the standard translation. Probably a confused attempt at political correctness on some editor's part that got reproduced elsewhere. They did the same in the 1976 movie The Message , probably so as ...

Actually, according to several sources Saddam's final words were "There is no God but Allah and Mohammad is---" At which point they dropped him before he finished the sentence. What I find odd is a few papers are trying to translate this as 'There is no God but God' rather than the standard translat...

And Iraqi state-run television is now confirming the hanging has occured, as has one of Saddam's lawyers. ...now see, my idea would've been to wait for New Year's Eve and do a Baghdad recreation of New York's 'ball drop'. Instead of a big glowing ball, they could drop the dictator on the gallows to ...

No argument here. I've always disagreed with "reverse discrimination", which is simple discrimination. I've never advocated blocking Nativity scenes but putting up menorahs, etc. All I've ever advocated was that if you're going to put up a Nativity or Christmas tree, that you ALSO include a menorah...

Why would someone attack a Presbyterian church in 2005 over an act committed by the Spanish branch of the Catholic Church in 1610? That's simply not happening. It's an overall antipathy for Christianity as a whole that drives such actions, not "payback" for any specific historical crime. Because th...

To Chronic: I'll have to mull over that one a bit more. As I recall, parts of that particular text were refuted by the Catholic Church in recent years, weren't they? And they've certainly changed their opinion from past doctrine. Nope, Vatican II is still in force in the Catholic Church. It was the...

5. The futility of any way outside Christ 10. The finality of revelation (all prophecies are fulfilled in Christ, and there's no further revelations afterwards). These are the "core doctrines" of Christianity, upon which the vast majority of Christians agree, and if necessary would be martyred rath...

But Eric Keroac agrees, and He's a recent Bush-appointed, Congress-doesn't-have-to-approve-him head of the OPA, including the Family Planning council. I'm using Jack Chick as an example because, in this instance, he seems to represent the feelings of the far Dominionist right, which are anti-scienc...

I talk about nobody rounding up Christians by the boatload and exterminating them, and you talk about kings attacking individual popes. If I remember my history correctly, most of the Middle Ages popes played pretty fast and loose with politics. And that the election of popes promoted campaigning t...

The Congress person who introduced the bill did it as a final middle finger to Bush before leaving office. The Democrats have already said repeatedly they aren't going to impeach him. She is a fringe member of the party who doesn't have much respect on the hill and his hated by her voters so much s...

Reminds me of a lesson we had about Cults in class once: we were told to go to any verse in the Bible, change one word all through the text with another word of our choosing, and create a cult in fifteen minutes. ...you are aware, I presume, of the comment regarding Rimmer's parents in Red Dwarf, y...

According to most websites I checked, including Wikipedia, , Judaism accounts for between 1.3 and 2 % of the US population, not 10%. And at this time of year, I'd be extremely happy if even only 1 percent of the store shelf space designated for Christmas wrap and Christmas cookies and Christmas sto...
