I think brush pens are great for starting out on. You get a basic idea of how hard to press down, and how to get varying strokes without worrying if there is too much ink or not on the bristles to blob up. It was not too hard to find, but a casual reader most likely would not just catch it in either panel. First time, its okay to let it slip, but when he notices it, it should be more obvious to us as well. By the way, the banner link worked just fine for me. /shrug

InDesign, since your artist most likely will use PhotoShop or Illustrator to create/edit the images. Adobe makes it easy to assemble individual pieces and import them between all its programs. Not too cheap unless you get student discounts or something like that, though.

Is that the full size image or is that already shrunk down? A computer will show you the ugly truth of your lines when displayed at full size. If you start larger and shrink down, imperfections can be covered.
