The Best and the Brightest

My comic is called The Best and the Brightest . It's the story of the students and teachers in a high school outside of Chicago. So far I have about 215 strips. I've been running my comic since September 2006. Updates every MWF... or I'm out of the Lazy Grind. Read it here: http://www.flyovercountry...

I'll do one for some of my characters later but here's two versions of the same scene. The first was drawn in August 2006. The second (a flashback to the previous scene) was drawn in August 2007.

The forum community at Bob and George has a large and active spriting section. Some of it is Mega Man sprite oriented, but not all of it. It's got some good general spriting resources as well as knowledgeable people who can probably give you the kind of help and feedback you're looking for in drafti...

Between three and five hours, depending on the complexity of the scene.

1. Five fingers. It's just natural, and it makes drawing obscene gestures more straightforward. 2. I'm still weighing my final decision on how to express skin color in my B&W comic without it coming out as either offensive or just bad looking. Right now I'm leaning towards plain fills. 3. Black hair...

As an April Fool's joke, I was going to redo all the dialogue in all my comics as some long, wierd love story. But I got tired after twenty strips and just went with what I'd finished.

http://i46.photobucket.com/albums/f108/Doublemint2000/ac_evo3.png Katrina was always intended to be one of the main cast, but I just never got around to introducing her until my current storyline (in which she'll play a major roll). And holy crap is that arm in the bottom right corner sample bad. h...

My review for School Spirit is up. Sorry for the delay, the archive crawl took longer than I figured.

School Spirit: I went ahead a read the whole archive, Dutch. Hope you don't mind. ART: Just a caution that I don't feel totally qualified to judge art, but I did like what I saw in School Spirit. The "big ear" thing works for the children, making it look as if they're growing into themselves. The ki...

Three resolutions:

I resolve to update at the beginning of the day instead of the end of the day.... starting Friday.

I also resolve to keep up a 3-strip buffer.

Finally, I resolve to work more on my backgrounds (as in, actually making some).

It's been a while since I read it, but I remember good things about this one. It's a nice starting point for a beginner. I liked Vol.3 enough to buy a copy. The other volumes were less useful. General anatomy books are also good to have.

I don't quite remember how I came up with my comic's title (The Best and the Brightest), but it was fairly early on when I did. As for why it is what it is, I think it had something to the way an old high school teacher of mine would humor/mock my class before we'd take a test. In the several months...

Here my first: http://www.flyovercountry.net/d/20060904.html It's very, VERY different than what my strip normally is, but it makes more sense when you take into account that the storyline's name is "The First Day". It's also an example of "panel bloat", a disease I was afflicted with until I switch...

It could also be said to be morally dubious to advertise J-List, but it's really up to the individual if they want to buy that Hello Kitty dutch wife.

That said, only an idiot would buy a paper from one of these sites. The risks aren't worth the reward.

Within my comic, my characters are students in a school that requires uniforms. They all mostly wear the same outfit, though I've been planning on introducing variations on the uniform (different shades, sweaters, ties) once I figure out how they should look. It will be some time before I go outside...
