I could point to numerous occasions to the contrary, but that'd probably be missing the point. I dislike it when people want to argue with me over relatively simple statements which to me aren't worth arguing over, and get annoyed when people feel the need to tell me things which are either irreleva...

They didn't ask a question. They made a statement and they are asking if you agree with it. "Do you agree with this statement: "Blah blah blah," ?" is actually still a question. If they live in a society which has broad social service programs, then I agree, they should expect it, because it exists...

A company, as an entity, has one, and only one purpose. To produce value for its shareholders or owners. That's it. Nothing else. If a company found it could produce more value by planting a forest than by spending an equal amount of money in advertising, the world would be covered in forests. Comp...

I honestly don't think *any* movie under R (and even then, few Rs) is going to traumatize a kid in the long run unless the kid is mentally unstable (i.e. has difficulty distinguishing reality from fiction,) or the movie is actually based on real horrible events. Sure, I cried at Hunchback, but it's ...

It's also funny how many people take it for granted that "Song of the South" was racist and wrong and whatnot without even watching it. Sure it was simplification of things, but I don't remember black people being represented in negative light there. ... Time distance has rendered all messages that...

Regardless, I think its time for me to look into copywriting my characters. That may be an extreme, but personally I don’t want all my hard work to go to waste. From a technical perspective, copyright is automatic. Anything you create which falls under copyright law is automatically copyrighted. Ac...

The big problem with giving comics away free is that A. They already do this and B. You can already go to the store and pic up a comic and read it. Effectively, unless it's something new and not widely available, people who would be interested have already had an opportunity to read it. Frankly, I'v...

Not to mention that a lot of questions are a lot more complex than they appear at first glance. For example, the one about people who don't work when they could. The actual statement you're being asked is: "Those who are able to work, and refuse the opportunity, should not expect society's support....

I like the one with the moving beard. The milk one is pretty icky, though. Our society spends way too much on advertising, and most of it is useless. I mean, if it's a new thing no one's heard of, then advertising is useful. But if it's just trying to convince you to buy Coke instead of Pepsi, on a...

We're closing in on the third week of a massive clerical strike at my University. Some students are organizing a hunger strike, and, long as this has been going, I'm tempted to join them. I can't see why the ****ing administrators can't take a little slice out of their hefty paychecks just to help ...

Not so much that the gay marriages themselves have much of a dent in divorce rates (the data I remember off the top of my head suggests that male-male couples are more likely to break up, but female-female couples are less likely to do so, so assuming even distribution, then we've got a net effect o...

At a recent service the rabbi gave a talk on faith in the world, and she said that the problem isn't that there's not enough faith, but too much of it. People aren't willing to doubt, aren't willing to question. This is one of the major underpinnings of my entire personal philosophy of life. Which ...
