Re: A question in web design . . .
xHTML is like HTML, but a bit more persnickety. One of the biggest things is remembering to close tags - i.e., every <> needs to have a </>.

External CSS Stylesheets?
My site is build using XHTML and CSS; currently all the CSS is contained within the HTML. As the site grows and I add more pages beyond dailytemplate and indextemplate, I'd love to be able to link to an external stylesheet. The main reason for this is so I can make changes to ONE file instead of SEV...

Re: A question in web design . . .
Actually, xHTML will work on ComicGenesis - my site is written using XHTML transitional. What I believe Doc is saying is that your file extensions MUST BE .html; the code in the page can be HTML or xHTML - just remember to use the appropriate DOCTYPE in your code so the server renders the page corre...

Any chance of reverting to a previous build of SiteAdmin, before this issue occured? If not, then maybe looking at the old code to figure out where the glitch is happening? It's a glitch in the system that has been running for several months now.

Re: CSS & double comic issue
Did some more searching, and found that apparently the CSS has to be an INTERNAL style sheet. $#%@ing lovely. Rather defeats a bit of what CSS is all about. Any chance I'll be able to link to an EXTERNAL CSS file at some point? I re-uploaded the template files with modifications to the CSS; hopefull...

CSS & double comic issue
I've checked the Wiki & the tutorials. Tried searching the forums; didn't see this issue - if it's been addressed AND resolved before please let me know. So I have the templates uploaded, and I used some simple CSS for styling & layout. The pages look fine in testing - PC & Mac; tested on Firefox, S...

Re: o o o Can't Log into SiteAdmin? Read this thread! o o o
Not...quite. If there are OLD ones in there, ya gotta delete them first. I ran into this problem once or twice early on, not realizing that uploading something of the same name WON'T over-write the original, will in fact do nothing. It's a weird little quirk of the system, but it's worth noting exp...

So if I understand this correctly: uploading a new daily template and index template will overwrite the generic ones, and it should update the HTML & CSS along with your webcomic, correct?

Re: o o o Can't Log into SiteAdmin? Read this thread! o o o
I understand how long it can take to fix this kind of stuff, but six months seems a bit long to me. I seem to remember this sort of thing happening a few years ago when I unsuccessfully tried to launch my webcomic. Failure to launch wasn't their fault; due to an insane amount of OMFGWTFBBQ?!? throw...

Not sure if this'll help the debugging/reprogramming efforts, but I just got this error when I tried to log into SiteAdmin:
Warning: Unexpected character in input: ''' (ASCII=39) state=1 in /home/space/siteadmin/public_html/everything.php on line 617

Re: o o o Can't Log into SiteAdmin? Read this thread! o o o
Ok, got into the FTP site - finally got the password reset to work. Question: I'll be uploading new HTML & CSS files to the FTP site. Will the HTML and CSS files be updated, or does that require SiteAdmin? Also, will the site only update the comic if there's one for that date? Meaning, if I have a c...

Re: o o o Can't Log into SiteAdmin? Read this thread! o o o
Okay, so I guess I'm among the many who can't get into SiteAdmin - however, I can't get into FTP either, so I can't upload comics/CSS/HTML/images. I've tried using my FTP login, but I'm not sure that I have the right password - I can't get into SiteAdmin to change it, so I don't know if I can access...

Re: Introduction Thread - Welcome to the New and Old
Howdy.
I guess I'm new and old, since I had an account here a couple years ago. Now I'm re-booting a strip that I had waaaaaaaaaaaaaay back in my college years (i.e. "the 90's"). Right now I'm trying to get into the FTP site and SiteAdmin so I can get things going.

Navigation buttons with HTML?
General coding question: can I use a standard HTML link (i.e. "a href") and the Comic Genesis XML tags together?
For example:
Is this possible, or will it cause mass chaos?
For example:
Code: Select all
<a href="***todays_comic***">Today's Comic</a>
