I think the general rule of thumb for flash is simply this: If it's not interactive/animated, swfs are probably more of a pain than anything. I just use PNG's for the most part. They have more colors available than a GIF, but without the fragmentation of a JPEG. (And if it doesn't export exactly, c...

Re: SWFs for comics--Good idea or bad?
Since I drew my comics in Flash, I have the option to make them SWF files. This would be easier for me, because Flash has problems exporting to other formats -- it will do it, but often colors do not translate accurately, so you have to go through a big process first exporting to BMP and then using...

and dont save things as .gif's, flash colors don't translate very well. png's and .swf's are good. Actually, flash just exports to gif badly. If you export to bmp and use an external program to convert to gif it works fine. Although swf blows all other formats out of the water for flash files. It's...

I use mozilla, but I could see them before :-? Forgive me, but I can't find a...

By the way, I know it's a bad habit to write storyline strips, and that the pros try not to do this, because they want every strip to be understandable to everyone without having read the preceding strip. Unfortunately, that results in "gag" comics that are usually pretty predictable. I've seen some...

Thanks. Well, I read that Gear article, and I find that I still really need to see a good example of a site that works the way I want mine to work. I want readers to select a storyline, and be taken to the first strip in that storyline. Then I want there to be a "next" link that takes them to the ne...

What to do if your comics tell a story from day to day?
I often write strips that continue the storyline from the last strip, and can't be appreciated fully if you're just reading a one-shot. For this reason I would rather have people read them in order. I don't know how many people go to your first strip and then read them in order. Probably most don't....

I didn't realize that the sample comic would be posted as the first. This is causing me to have to put a lot more thought into the sample submission than I thought I had to, because I'm setting a pattern for my other strips re: size, borders, whether to make the title logo part of the GIF itself and...

Well, is this first-strip submission necessary even if I did not intend to use Keenspace's default web page, but rather design my own? I just feel funny submitting a strip that is not one of my best for approval! But if, as you say, I won't get rejected due to quality, then I guess it doesn't matter...

Submit more than one comic with Keenspace application?
I am applying for a Keenspace account. I saw in http://gear.keenspace.com/cadet/SigningUp.html that: "Before you sign up for an account, here's a small list of what you will need: At least one comic ready for upload. (By rights, you should have more)" Well, I am having a hard time deciding which of ...
